Lucy's obituary

Mrs. Lucy H. Kramer, age 87, of Cedar Crossing, died Sunday, May 14, 2023, at Oxley Park Health and Rehab in Lyons after an extended illness. She was born April 21, 1936, in Toombs County and was a 1953 graduate of Toombs Central School. She married her husband and moved to Bloomingdale where they lived several years. She worked in Bloomingdale at Patrick’s Market where she played catcher for the company softball team. She returned to Toombs County in 1974, worked at Cedar Crossing Grocery, and later was our favorite door greeter at Wal-Mart in Vidalia. She attended Cedar Crossing Baptist Church and was a member of Georgia Power Ambassadors. She enjoyed word puzzles, especially fill-ins, spending time with her family, crocheting, cross-stitch, sewing, and had a green thumb to grow beautiful flowers. She had an ear for music, and as a young lady, played piano at church. She is preceded in death by her husband of sixty-six years, Floyd F. Kramer; parents, Oscar Eugene Hitchcock and Etta Mae Chastain Hitchcock; and three brothers, Charles Gardiner, Claude “Junior” Gardiner, and Bobby Hitchcock.

Her family includes two sons, Keith Kramer and Melvin Kramer and wife Vicki, all of Cedar Crossing; one daughter-in-law, Tonya Kramer of Vidalia; four grandchildren, Keisha Kramer Powell and husband Derek, Ethan Kramer and wife Hali, Jodi Kramer and Jeremy Kramer; four great-grandchildren, Landon, Natilyn, Sawyer, and Caroline; one brother, Eugene Hitchcock and wife Joan of Marietta; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home on Tuesday evening, May 16th, from 6:00 until 8:00.

A graveside funeral service will be Wednesday morning, May 17th, at 11:00 at Lakeview Memorial Gardens with Pastor Ronnie Saxon, Pastor Reece Mincey and Pastor Melvin Kramer officiating.
