Born Lois Gloria Weinberger on October 23rd, 1927 in Cleveland, Ohio to Harry and Cecilia Weinberger, Lois was the middle child of three siblings. Growing up, she was very close to her older sister, Roz, and adored her younger brother, Shelly. When she was a teenager, her family moved to Los Angeles, California, where she started school at Los Angeles High School.
