Lilian Marie Cogbill was born January 16, 1942 to Russell and Vera (Asburn) Cogbill in Joplin, Missouri. She moved to Kansas City with her family when she was young. Marie graduated from Ruskin HS and then went to study Music at Wasburn University, graduating with a Masters in Music Education. She shared her gift of music with many students during her tenure at Kansas City Kansas Public Schools USD 500, retiring in 2008. Marie was Director of Music for Sheffield Family Life Center before her work with the Northland Cathedral church family. Music and her church family were of utmost importance to her. She could play nearly any instrument, but her first love was the Accordion, which she learned to play at the age of 6. Marie was also a composer, and had a love for photography, even developing her photos in her own dark room at her home. Marie suffered many health battles since 2001 and she went to her heavenly home on August 29, 2019. A Celebration of Marie's life will be held on September 16th with Visitation beginning at 5pm and a Memorial Service at 6pm - all at Northland Cathedral at 101 NW 99th Street, Kansas City, Missouri.
