I just learned about Leslie's death and I am heartbroken. We worked together at the Ventura County Star and spent a lot of time together outside of work. She went to our wedding and gave us a beautiful gift and read us a poem. Unfortunately, we lost touch over the years. It's been bittersweet to catch up on her life since we parted ways. Sounds like she continued to attract great friends and experiences. My condolences to Leslie's family and friends.

My deepest condolences to Les' family. I am fortunate enough to have taught her how to sail. She was a powerhouse, that one. She took no qualms about taking the helm. I'm going to miss her.

I'm Jay Thompson. I was a copy editor who worked with Leslie at The Tribune in San Luis Obispo. I appreciated her devotion to craft. She was dedicated and driven. She wouldn't sugarcoat something when she could just tell you straight. I appreciated that. And she had a nice smile — when she wasn't all business. I'm very sorry for her family who lost such a powerful and articulate young woman. Such a loss to such a terrible disease. One day at a time on this journey through grief.

Leslie made me say butter over and over again, I pronounced it the British way she said. She loved to be proper like an English lady. Leslie was well-informed it was always nice to listen to her. She was also fearless and did what she felt its right for her. Miss you Leslie you were pride and to your father and me.

Gone way to soon. Heaven gained an angel. I will miss you my friend.
Leslie, you're gone too soon.…
Leslie, you're gone too soon. I know you gave it everything you had, like only an investigative reporter could. We met at the Brentwood News. You told me I had to meet your sister who I'd love and Leah and I hit it off. You and I got a chance to reconnect, when you stayed with me during your early treatment. We were both strong-willed Capricorns, crazy for love and eternal romantics. I respected your clarity, about who you were and what you stood for. You had a definitive instinct about the proper way things should be. Perhaps from a past life, during the era of your beloved Jane Austen novels. You packed a lot into your life, that's been cut too short. Spanish immersion in Mexico was it? And salsa dancing up a storm! I was very touched to see, that in one of your videos speaking about your cancer treatment, you gave out your personal phone number, in an effort to support people. I'm grateful that your spiritual faith was strong, as you bravely battled cancer. Though we will miss having you with us, I'm glad you are now comfortable and free and will be an angel watching over your family. Many blessings, until we meet again. :)paige
Sweet beautiful lady. Wish I could have been with you more over the years. You are forever a lovely memory. I am grateful for reconnecting, even if for only a short time. Wish we could have met up at the French patisserie in LA that you were so fond of. I will miss you and think of you with a very fond heart.
God bless your family and all those you’ve left behind. Hope to see you again friend💜
