Mr. Leon Samuel Williamson, age 66, of Douglas passed away Wednesday afternoon, December 2, 2015, at the Phoebe Sumter Medical Center, in Americus, Georgia, following an extended illness. He was born December 28, 1948 to the late Cyrus Samuel Williamson and the late Alma Williamson. Mr. Williamson, a native of Douglas and Coffee County, was a former Clerk with a Lumber Company. He received his education from the Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. He was a U. S. Marine Veteran, having served during the Vietnam Era. Mr. Williamson was a member of the First Baptist Church. Survivors include: 1 Sister: Mary Ann Purvis of Douglas, Ga.; Several Nieces, Nephews, Friends, and Other Relatives. Graveside Services and Interment were held Friday, December 4, 2015, at 2:00 P. M., at the Douglas City Cemetery, with Dr. Shep Johnson officiating. Active Pallbearers were: Jimmy Dockery, David McElroy, Jeff Anderson, Dusty Wilkinson, and Kevin Gillespie. A Special Musical Selection, “Amazing Grace” was presented as a Congregational Hymn, led by Dr. Shep Johnson. Ricketson Funeral Home was in charge of the Arrangements.
