LeeRoy you will always be in our hearts!

I just now heard of leeRoy’s passing. My condolences to the Family. What a great guy and always fun to be around! I remember a ski trip a bunch of us took to to Squaw Valley back in ‘73 or ‘74, LeeRoy, Jim Gannon, Gary Gordon, Jeff Morton and other Padres all packed into my 65 Mustang with no tires chains and only 1 working windshield wiper, going down Donner summit half sideways. Good times! Sorry to see you go LeeRoy. Rest in peace Padre, Happy Trails.

I think this pic was taken at my Auntie Jo and Uncle LeeRoy's house back in Burlingame. He's opening some sunglasses. I love his genuine smile. His smile would light up a room. In the next pic you'll see him wearing the sunglasses. Look at those great 90s shades!
Another memory from our famil…
Another memory from our family snow trips. I never liked downhill skiing - but my Cousin Chloe and Uncle were naturals! One time my Uncle tried to help me overcome my fear of skiing (I hated trying to get off the ski lyft!!!). He told me that he was going to put some “magic” energy in my pocket. He said I needed more protein and then I wouldn’t be so scared of skiing. This magic energy was actually just a handful of this homemade trail mix he would prepare for us as a snack to eat while we were skiing. Our parents would stuff our pockets with snacks just in case we got hungry on the slopes. My Uncle was always pushing us to be our best, especially when it came to athletics or sports. Unfortunately, I was probably the least athletic one in the family. But he still tried to get me to participate and always made me feel included. Even though he knew I wasn’t the athletic kid in our family (that was more Chloe and KMQ), he never gave up on me. That was a quality of his that I’ll never forget — just how much he would believe in us no matter what. Others would have given up on me but every year he tried to get me to ski. Anyway, I loved how he attempted to lure me back onto the slopes with some of his “magic” energy trail mix. He knew I would be motivated by snacks! LOL. In the end, I never became anywhere remotely close to being good at skiing, which I think he knew would happen, but I'll always remember him stuffing my pockets full of trail mix. He never gave up. I realize how crazy I sound that this picture brings back such an obscure memory. But I never got a picture of the two of us out on the slopes (since I rarely left the comfort of the lodge), so this photo reminded me of that memory. Thank you Uncle LeeRoy for never giving up on me despite my terrible athleticism! Every time I eat trail mix, I always think of you. <3

Not sure where this pic was taken, but I love my Uncle's face in this photo. This was probably from one of our many family get togethers! I assume during the holidays because of the festive red turtleneck!
LeeRoy & Family: It was an honor to be LeeRoy’s teammate with the San Bruno Rams & Serra football teams. LeeRoy put the work in to become one of the best! I had the opportunity to connect with him later and he was so proud and loved his family a great deal. My condolences…I will miss him.
