LeeRoy's obituary
I miss my dearest Uncle LeeRoy every day. I don't quite think I have the words to express how much life, love, joy, courage and strength that he brought into the world... but I wrote an obituary to share with all of you. My hope is that maybe somehow through writing and through sharing memories and through this site, we can keep his memory alive.
My Uncle, LeeRoy Joseph Kloezeman, left us far too soon from a disease that I hope one day we can all learn more about and save more people from having to experience. How to describe someone like my Uncle? He was fiercely passionate about those he loved, and dedicated his life to both his pursuit of travel and fun with his family. My childhood was a whirlwind of legendary Easter Egg Hunts, insanely fun Ornament Exchanges at Christmas time, and then when I turned 21 (or maybe a little earlier!) I discovered why all the adults always flocked to the bar at each of his parties. The cocktails he'd whip up were the tastiest and strongest around. I remember he had these perfect bongo drums when he lived in Burlingame and as kids I'd watch in awe as he would drum away to some fun song. He loved to be silly. He loved imaginations and fun. Chloe', KMQ and I would put on performance after performance that he helped record and I think we subjected him to music lip-syncing video overload, but he loved every second of it.
The feeling of him being gone hurts beyond belief and sometimes I think he might just walk back in the room. His towering, tall dark and handsome self just so I could feel his presence one more time. I think many of you probably feel the same way. In losing him I hope we can all come together and honor his memory with as many videos, pictures, songs, and written memories that we can. It would mean the world to my family and I to see your memories! Much love from the bottom of our hearts and please consider making a donation to the organization that supported my Uncle and family in our time of need. The Robin and the Brain Support Network made it possible for us to donate my Uncle's brain to science. Their website is linked on the donation page.
