March 2000 Leanna saw me eating an avocado. With a terrible look on her face, “Eeewwwwwww. That’s dog food.” I guess she’d only seen our dog eating fallen ones in the yard. Haha!
Close to a year old, Leanna was confused about facial hair. It usually scared her, but here it was on her uncle. One time we faced her back to a bearded guy in a restaurant. She turned around and stared at him so much we just left. 😆
4th grade at Olive Branch Christian Academy She wanted to be in the Talent Show, so we put our heads together. I’ll do my best to describe it. Someday I’ll find a picture. Leanna stood with her arms folded and her hands behind her in front of a big curtain with two secretive holes. No one knew, but her teacher was behind the curtain sticking her arms through the secretive holes and then through Leanna’s bent arms. Mrs. Goldstein was totally blind. As I remember, Leanna described the morning routine that her teacher went through every morning - washing her face, brushing her teeth, fixing her hair, eating, drinking. Leanna got so messy. The audience loved it! So did she!
January 1999 After eating her own “banana split”, some of mine, and leftovers from Kayla’s, her tummy hurt. She had to lie down and upon standing up, she burped and smiled, saying, “My ice cream popped!”
Some of my favorite memories with Leanna were when we carpooled to Woodcrest Christian HS/MS together. We would laugh about our school day, talk through our boy problems, and of course-- karaoke in the car. We listened to various artists, such as Carrie Underwood, Miley Cyrus, X Ambassadors, and Sia. However, our favorite song to sing was "Brazil's Got Talent- Jotta A and Michelly Manuely- Hallelujah" (she'd sing the boy part and I'd sing the girl part haha). Years later, we laughed so hard remembering all of those memories belting out our favorite songs on our way to school.
One specific memory was when we were pulling out of the driveway on our way to school and Leanna asked "wanna skip school today?" I replied, "are you kidding? yes!!" (as any little sister would say). Rather than skipping school to do what most delinquent kids would do, we thought it was a good idea to grab Starbucks and sit in Barnes and Noble. We sat there for HOURS taking personality tests and sipping on our coffee! - Sorry Mom and Dad. At least we were learning something lol.
March 2000 After riding a kiddie roller coaster, Greg very enthusiastically asked her how she liked it. She answered with a smile and lots of excitement in her voice, “I think I’ll like it when I’m four!”
