LARRY's obituary
Lawrence (Larry) Douglas Chidester was born October 2, 1937. He passed peacefully into the presence of His Savior January 10, 2024.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Agnes Chidester.
Larry is survived by his wife of 53 years, Marie; children, Kimberly (Andrew) Malkos, Robin (Marc) Schmidt, Brian (Angie) Chidester, Tina Chidester; sisters, Caroline (Jack) Greer-Weatherford and Phyllis Miller.
He also leaves behind several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Larry entered this world in Long Beach, California, where he lived until the age of 13, when he moved to Bicknell, Utah. He resided in SLC, Utah most of his adult life.
He married Laura Nebeker, from whom he was later divorced. He met and married Marie Christensen in 1970.
His love of motorcycling and outgoing personality eventually merged
to become a successful career in the motorcycle industry.
A charter member of the Salt Lake Motorcycle Club, He & Marie toured with the other members for many years. He continued to ride his Harley until the age of 84.
In 2002, Larry & Marie moved to Arizona, where semi-retired Larry accepted employment at In n’ Out Burger, cheerfully serving up fast food and socializing with customers.
After Larry became a Believer, he developed a genuine servant’s heart. He was the sole caregiver for Marie, whose health challenges required round-the-clock attention. Yet, he considered and referred to her as “his treasure”.
Larry’s nephew, Alan called him a “great man”. His great-granddaughter, Cierra said she’d “never met a person who didn’t love him.”
Not long ago, he tearfully told his oldest daughter, Kimberly that he was grateful the Lord had saved him from his former, “wild, sinful ways”.
Larry was an active member of Firm Foundation Bible Church and volunteered to serve with The Gideons.
He was fascinated with the history and fictional characters based on tales of the Old West.
And so we echo the farewell so often repeated by our dearly loved Larry:
Happy Trails…
We miss you already.
