Born on October 5, 1961 and raised in Little Canada, Minnesota to parents Frank Skorczewski & Marie Dion Skorczewski, she was the youngest of four children.
Laurie had a love of learning and a rebellious streak from the start. She attended Little Canada Elementary and enjoyed spending time riding bikes; spending time with friends; and playing with her siblings Sue, Mark, and Greg.
