Larry's obituary

Larry Daniel Seitz, a beloved soul, left an indelible mark on the hearts of those he encountered. He was born on March 25, 1950, to Daniel V and Iona L (Baker) Seitz. Larry was a beacon of light in his family, bringing joy and laughter into their lives. He was raised alongside his younger twin brothers that he adored, Jay and Jon, in the quiet rural town of Yakima, Washington. As a child he enjoyed playing Little League baseball, a sport that taught him about teamwork and perseverance. The Seitz family vacations were a blend of the beautiful beaches of Oregon and Washington along with the Washington Cascades, with occasional, memorable trips to Montana and North Dakota to embrace the warmth of extended family ties.

As Larry transitioned into his teenage years, he found pleasure in learning to play the guitar. This wasn't merely a hobby, but a lifelong pursuit that allowed him to express himself and bring joy to others. High school years saw him not only enjoying music but also playing on the football team. He graduated from Eisenhower High School in 1968.

Seeking to further his education and carve out a future, Larry ventured to Tacoma, where he studied dental technology. It was here that fate smiled upon him, bringing Gayle Lea Wetzstein into his life. Their meeting was not just a mere coincidence, but two souls destined to walk together. Married in 1972, their love and deep commitment to each other stood the test of time, spanning over 52 married years. Together, they founded Seitz Dental Arts, a crown and bridge laboratory, a testament to their shared skills and dedication. Larry and Gayle loved scuba diving, especially at Titlow Beach in Tacoma, and enjoyed doing this together year-round before their children were born. He also continued playing baseball throughout the years, and played in many baseball leagues.

Most importantly, Larry's life was a testament to his unwavering faith in the Lord. This deep spiritual connection guided him through life's trials and tribulations, imbuing him with strength and grace. His journey was further enriched by the joy of fatherhood, with three sons—Brandon (Misuk), Levi (Sarah), and Spencer (Hank). The circle of love expanded with the arrival of five grandchildren: Saben, Asher, Canaan, Arielle and Jude, each bringing a unique joy and light into Larry's life. Larry was adored as a grandpa, and constantly reached out to support and encourage each of his five grandkids in individual ways. Larry also had the privilege of being a legal guardian to their Korean host children, Mi-Tek, Hok-Chin, Dong-Won, Tae-Wan, and Jae-Young, guiding them as they grew into young men.

Larry's hobbies also included motorcycle riding, golf, and music with friends and his brothers. Music was his true passion, and he loved singing on various church worship teams and performing concerts at Jubilee. After retirement, Larry worked as an usher at his dream job at Cheney Stadium baseball field in Tacoma, which meant he got paid to watch the baseball games! He was also a golf course marshal at Chambers Bay in University Place. A precious tradition for Larry and Gayle were their yearly trips to Desert Hot Springs, California, where he and his brothers and their spouses would enjoy fun and fellowship together. Poolside concerts with Larry, Jon and Jay were a highlight, anticipated and enjoyed by everyone in attendance.

As we say goodbye to Larry Daniel Seitz, we do so with heavy hearts, yet with a profound hope and gratitude in the saving work of Jesus Christ, which promises that we will meet him again. Larry never ceased to proclaim the truth of who Jesus is and what he has done for each of us, and he made his faith evident every day in both his words and his actions, as well as his deep commitment to the Scriptures. While we will miss him every day, we take comfort in knowing that he sees Jesus and is being held by the One he had been longing to see. We are confident that he is now with his Savior hearing “well done, good and faithful servant.”
