My favorite memory of Larry Stoufer is when I first met him. He was out in his yard, burning leaves and branches. I was a new neighbor, so I was introducing myself. He knew that I had just accepted a position in Decatur at Agnes Scott College as Dean of the College and Vice President of Academic Affairs. His daughter, Alison Stoufer, had gone to Agnes Scott College for a year; in fact, he was wearing a sweatshirt with "Agnes Scott College" written across the front. He said to me, as he madly raked leaves and branches into the fire, "I'm politically left." Getting no reaction from me, he upped the ante, by saying, "i'm far to the left." Since I was also "far to the left," I found my neighbor-buddy for political discussion. Since I moved from Georgia to California, which I call "The State of Enlightenment," I still really miss my neighbor-buddy for political discussion, especially now in this political climate!

Stouffs, you sit on my nightstand every night and every day. When I awake, I say good morning to you every day. I am positive that you always hear me say my hello. Often, because I know you are there, you help me have a better day. God bless you Stouffs
Love you, Eric

Every single time he and I spoke (and I mean every time for over 50 years) Stouffs led off with a happy, smiling “hey, how are you.” Always very positive. Each time he made me feel that I was the only one who mattered to him at that moment. He “made my day.” I miss Larry every day and I talk to him every day.
