Lady Hawk was a very special bird.  Brought into Tamarack for treatment in 1991, it was eventually deemed that she was non-releasable.   As a young non-releasable bird, her charisma led to the addition of education as a mission at Tamarack.  She paved the way for many more species to become ambassadors in the years that followed.   For 31 years Lady Hawk captured the hearts of anyone who met her.  Through education programs and events she inspired over 100,000 members of her community and beyond to care for wildlife.  

Lady Hawk enjoyed good health until the very end. With the average hawk's lifespan 7-15 years in the wild, care in captivity can extend this, with some living to 30+ years, comparable to a 100 year old human.

Lady Hawk will be remembered fondly by each of Tamarack's past and present volunteers and staff. The largest ambassador raptor at Tamarack, when volunteers earned the privilege of stepping her onto their glove, it was an unforgettable experience. 

Lady Hawk passed quickly and peacefully on Saturday June 11, 2022 enveloped by the love of a Tamarack staff member that was with her.  Her spirit is now soaring free on the highest breeze.
