La Vona will be very missed. She was a big part of my life when I was younger. (I’m Debbie “Sutherlands” daughter). We are very sorry for your loss. May she rest well ♥️🙏🏻
I lost a special Friend . She was my oldest friend of 63 years. Even though we didn't see each other often, we each knew the other was there. I can't believe you are gone. I thought we would end up in an old folks home together. May she enjoy heaven without stress or worries. I couldn't have had better person to call my friend and go through life with. My funny story was I as am beautician always teased about that braid she wore for years and how much younger she looked with shorter wavy hair, the proof, the beautiful picture on this website. I always admired your strength. you were one of the strongest people I have known. You lived your life the way we all should. Through all your struggles I never heard complaint, you lived with grace. I loved you lots. I know you will will watch over all of us, our angel in heaven. I will miss you till we meet again. May you rest in peace my friend.

Lou, thank you so much for accepting me into your life and allowing me to help care for you. Our time together wasn't nearly long enough, but I cherished every moment - especially those with sarcastic jokes (at Nathan's expense) that continue to make me laugh today. You did a phenomenal job raising two kindhearted sons and the world is a better place because you loved everyone fiercely. I hope you're cuddled up right now, eating a giant bowl of ice cream, and watching over your beautiful family with a smile on your face. Until we meet again <3
Rest in peace dear La Vona. Our family is missing You so much. You, Nate and Nick became part of our family even before Penny and Nick were married. I'll always remember the good times we shared at our family celebrations and reunions.
Thank you for the kindness and generosity you bestowed on our family. When we went to Hawaii for Gisselle and Andrew 's wedding, you drove all of us to the airport and then picked us up in your big suv. You welcomed our family into your home as you were welcome in our home.
I will share those memories with your grandchildren.
Thank you for raising such wonderful boys. Nick is everything I always wanted for my daughter Penny. He is an example of what a husband and father ( and son in law) should be.
With your passing, I smelled the scent of roses from heaven.
Until we meet again
Nora
I loved my mom more than words can describe. She was the best person I’ve known and will ever know. She loved her friends and family more than anything and her generosity was unparalleled. She made raising my brother and I seem easy. I only realized how tough it must’ve been later on in life. I miss her so much and will miss her everyday. I’m so grateful and proud to be her son. I love you, mom, my sweet, sweet, Lou Lou.
La Vona, Andrew, the girls and I are deeply saddened of your passing. We will miss all our NFL football picks and March Madness brackets. Of course, you picking all Texas teams to win, even if they are terrible! We could trash talk to you and you took it! Then, turn the tables to throw Nick under the bus!
We will miss all the funny stories and jokes about Nick (Pickles) growing up. All the embarrassing moments of his life.
We also want to thank you for coming to all our girls baby showers, birthday parties and family events. Thank you for supporting the all their Girl Scout sales and fundraising. You were known as Grandma Pickles to them. We remember you came to the hospital to see Anabelle hours after she was born. You were so happy to brag that you showed up first before anyone!
We also want to thank you for raising Nick to be the ultimate brother in law and uncle we could ever ask for. There is nothing he wouldn't do for us, our girls and our family. He is the most genuine husband to Penny and father to our nephew and niece. He takes care of his family! His actions are all refections of being raised by a strong and generous woman.
Thank you for loving Penny and accepting her and our family into your heart and home.
LaVona, you will be greatly missed! Rest in eternal peace and until we meet again! We love you!❤️🥰
Nick and Nate, nothing will take the pain of losing your mom. Thank you for sharing your kind mom with us. Just know, you are both in our hearts and thoughts. We are here, if you need anything at all! 💙💙
With all our love, Andrew, Gisselle, Isabelle, Gabby and Anabelle

My beautiful sister leaving us way to soon. Every emotion imaginable has passed through my body. I always called you the smart one. You have always been there for everyone, not just family, also friends. You meant so much to so many. Also knew if you want something done give it to a busy person and that was you, for all of us. You were the matriarch of the family, loved and respected. Words will not express how blessed I feel having you for a sister. No words will ever express what an amazing individual you were all the time. The fun we had at Disneyland with Isabella and Wednesday, the trip to Texas when we stayed with Linda and saw the sites. Remembering the cards we sent to Mom and our siblings which was almost a year long venture was so fun doing it with you. I couldn't imagine doing that, somewhat, a prank with anyone else.
I am so thankful you were in my life. I will miss calling and texting you silly jokes. You managed to live your whole life never getting in a car with me driving. Thank you for always diving, No matter how long the drive. I can't say good bye, as Daddy said it's to final. LaVona missing you is an understatement, you will always be in my heart and loved.
Love always & forever,
Your favorite sister,
Neeny
P.S. Nicholas and Nathan know we're here for them.
It was an honor to be your daughter in law. The fun memories we made reading Harry Potter, going on movie dates, having impromptu lunches, teasing Nick, celebrating at Disneyland (Dole Whip cheers), and enjoying fancy dinners at Fish Company are reminding me to smile through the sorrow of losing you. Thank you for your love, generosity, and being a lighthouse for so many during challenging seasons of life. Most of all, thank you for raising two amazing sons. Witnessing Nick embrace parenthood has been the highlight of my marriage. Not a day goes by without him expressing his love for his family. And what would we do without the amusement of sweet Uncle Nate, Alexander’s bestie? These two wonderful people are reflections of the exceptional parenting you did without much help from others.

I miss your warm hugs and chatting about life’s lessons. Celebrating holidays and milestones are going to be so different now. I have no doubt you will be present in spirit for all of them. See you in another life my angel mama.
Mom, you were a super hero, my super hero! You didn’t wear a cape and couldn’t fly, but that didn’t stop you from performing heroic acts. You were a single mother of 2 and worked tirelessly to make sure we were given every chance to succeed. Work came natural to you. While most people worked one job, you never had less than 2. If people were down on their luck, they turned to you and you were quick to assist. A roof over your head, financial assistance, or even just a meal, you were there to help in any way you could. I will always remember you for your kindness. You had so much of it! You preached it, reminding your sons to always be kind, not just to each other but to everyone. It was a lesson you taught by example. While you may be gone, you will always live on in my heart. I know you will be with me and watch over your grandkids, ensuring they are safe and also being kind. I thank you for everything you have ever done. I miss and love you so much and I’m proud that I am your son.
I will forever remember all of the moments that I shared with you and our family and your wonderful sense of humor. Thank you for being in our lives and loving my daughter as your own. You are greatly loved and missed but forever with us. 🖤
Ohh Aunt Lu Lu, you was one of my fav aunts. You always had a smile on your face and always laughed loudly with joy to be with our family. You are with the angel aunts, uncles, and cousins and I know you are there with Grandma Jane and the rest watching over us here on Earth. Until we meet again know you were LOVED!! Janna Redding (Sallys daughter)
The loss of LaVona reinforces the importance of fully appreciating those moments we shared. I will always remember the “reunions” at Grandma Abbott’s and later out at Charles and LaRue’s when we were kids and over the years how she always tried to include my brother and me in family events even though we were “Honorary Abbotts” via our step-mom Sally. Lavona always seemed to be the glue keeping us all connected. Had to believe she’s gone but not without leaving some good memories with us. Some fun times!
Anita I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your sister. Know that I'm thinking about you and your family during this difficult time. Sending prayers to you all. Love you.
