I was a colleague of Kirk's at FSU AFROTC. While we were very different individuals, from very different backgrounds, Kirk was always a very polite gentleman and nice person to me. Dad, I love you and we will miss you terribly. I hope you have found peace. You were an incredible father, mentor, and one tough son of a bitch as a coach. You taught me about hard work, dedication, and the importance of friendships. You taught me about baseball, deadlifts, and classic war movies. I hope we can all remember you for the veteran warrior that you were, and I hope we can all forget about you shouting “Punish him!” from the stands at my high school wrestling matches.
I will never forget all the lessons that you taught me and for guiding me to become the man I am today. It saddens me that Ava and Gary’s time with you as their father is cut short, but I hope you know that they are in the best hands possible. I love you Dad. I will see you again, but not yet. Not yet.

Shocking and sad... I’m soo sorry to see Kirk has passed. The words of your obituary squared well with my memories of him. Gregarious and kind; easy and infectious smile. We flew together for several years in the Five-O, and many of us would joke with him about his fitness... Mostly out of envy. I remember meeting him on the flight line somewhere in Southwest Asia after he had left herks for the C21. I laughed with him as he described climbing into and out of the cockpit. That was many years ago and a real lifetime away, but I always enjoyed working with him. He is, and will be missed. God bless and keep you through these days and those to come.
