Kimberly's obituary
Kimberly Sue (Cook) Berry passed away Feb 2, 2024, after a courageous and remarkable 57-year journey on this earth. Kim was born January 24, 1967, in Erie, Pennsylvania, and was the loving daughter of Charlene (Betzhold) Cook and the late Andrew (Denny) Cook. Loving mother of Ellie, Jack, and Brendan Berry; sister of Dee (Cook) Gante; Aunt of Rachel and Morgan Gante, and is survived by a tight-knit family in Erie, PA. In addition, she is survived by a village of friends in Clarkston, MI, and beyond.
Kim was passionate about preserving history from classic cars to Victorian homes and was a collector of all knick-knacks in between. From vintage jewelry to antiques, she collected what made her heart sing. Her favorite place to be was Presque Isle Beach, where she spent many hours digging in the sand for beach glass and whatever else the lake gave her. Her animals had a special place in her heart, especially her horses. She loved spending time at the barn and getting dirt under her fingernails. She was also a huge advocate for rescue animals. She spent her time volunteering at local animal shelters and helping to rehome dogs in need. She is also survived by her rescued dog Wallace, her rescued cat Larry, her rescued “granddog” Obi, and her rescued “grandcat” Richard.
Kim’s friends were her family, whether she saw them once a week or once a year, they all had a special place in her heart. All were welcomed under her care, and she was often referred to as “Mama Berry” by her children’s friends. Kim’s greatest accomplishment was her children, and her legacy will be carried on through their lives. From a gymnast to a dancer, to a mama, and a rescuer, she always pursued what she loved.
A celebration of life will be held in Clarkston, MI, and Erie, PA. All family and friends are welcome.
