A little late, but I just learned Kevin passed. I lived with Kevin for a short while in Lawrence many years ago. We didn't keep in touch. That's a shame because he was one of the nicest people I knew. I'm sure he left behind much love.

Well, since Marne and the rest didn't get to hear the whole story at his memorial, I will try to tell it hear in the detail I couldn't get it in person: I could regale you with stories of junior high summers at camp Chippewa, or stories of sitting in the second to last pew at Clearfield UMC , or about Sunday evenings at Monticello UMC and the youth group, but instead I will tell you a story about two friends and a road trip to, at the start, was to nowhere in particular southeast Missouri. This was early summer 1985 and I had just purchased a 1964 Plymouth Valiant. I had only had this car for maybe a month, and Kaz thought we should take a trip in it to 'break it in' as it were (lol). We had stopped somewhere in the middle of the state to get gas, use the restroom, and get smokes and something a drink - we also got a map of Missouri. Before we got back on the road, we tried to determine where we were to end up. Kevin saw on t the map that we weren't that far from Kentucky, in a roundabout way. Anyway, he remembered that Kim Douglas, sister of John, lived in Owensboro. So we started making our way there. We stopped several times trying to call and get ahold of Kim to let her know we were coming ( p.s. this was way before cell phones lol). We also saw on our recently purchased map that there was a place called the 'land between the lakes', and we decided that would be a cool place to sleep for a few before heading on to Owensboro. We did finally make connections with Kim. We spent the rest of that day visiting and, I believe, went to a bar or two that night before we headed back the next. Anyway, all that to rejoice in our spending time together as friends should wont to do. I miss my dear Brother Kaz and I know he is smiling down on us.

p.s. our friend and Brother Angelo remarked after the service: 'we were some roadtrippin' fools in the day'

I'm not sure of the exact first time I ever met Kevin, but I'm guessing it was at Clearfield UMC after he and his family moved from Topeka to the 'ranch' as it became affectionately known.. and that would've been in the early 70's.. after that we became fast friends...

I met Kevin when I was 45 yrs old. It took just one look, one deep conversation and I knew. That one true love I was always looking for. We didn't last forever, but his love and compassion are still with me today. He had a gift where he could lift anyone up with just a few words. I am incredibly grateful for the time we did have together. RIP sweet man.
I knew Kevin from the many Mission Trips (AKA family vacations) that I went on as a child. Kevin was always a leader and loved by all. I hadn’t seen him in over 30 years, but am glad we had reconnected and had the chance to catch up through Facebook.

Kevin was a kind and wise cousin. Smart with a heart of compassion. The world is a better place to have had him grace it with his presence. He will live on in all of us know knew and loved him, and he will watch over us as one of our guardian angels <3
Kevin helped me more than he knew. RIP cousin.
