Staff Cook out. Kevin cooking…

Staff Cook out. Kevin cooking for all of us & Barb helping ❤️

First impressions go a long way. Our family first met Kevin nine years ago the first time we walked through the doors of Clough Pike Elementary. It was meet the teacher night ahead of Bella starting kindergarten. From the moment we walked in, the older students just gravitated toward him because they missed him and the other staff members over the summer. He made sure to greet each one as well as the new students. We knew instantly Clough was the right place for our kids.

Three years later, Noah was supposed to start but his medical issues delayed that. Kevin made sure Noah had access to everything he was supposed to have. The medical issues continued through elementary school and Kevin and the staff kept propping him up to get him through. We exchanged countless emails and phone calls along with several in person meetings.

Last year, Anna started kindergarten. Her favorite thing was Thunderstruck and the prize wheel on Fridays.

He has left his mark on us as parents and all three of our kids.

Our family of five will definitely miss him.

From my daughter, a current KG student:

“I like you. I love you being at school and liked you being principal and helping with the wheel of thunder. I miss you. You’re the best person of a principal in the whole world.” ~Nora

As a former student I was so upset when I heard the news of Mr.Thacker passing. You were a wonderful, caring and compassionate man you will so deeply be missed by myself along with all my brothers and sister including the one that goes to Clough Pike right now.  We will all cherish the memories we had with you and we pray for your families healing In this time of grief. Thank you for always being such a great guy and changing lives  everywhere you went.

From a former student who adored Kevin:

Dear Mr Thacker,

I will miss you. You were my buddy. You were kind, understanding and made Fridays fun. We shared the same birthday too. I hope to grow up to be like you. Thank you for being my principal.

Kevin with Santa, He supported so many PTO events and will be missed greatly! His interactions with the students put a smile on everyones face!
Kevin was an amazing man and educator. I wish we had more as dedicated as he was to family and WC. He will be missed by more people than we can count .
I always saw him outside rain, snow, or shine with a smile directing traffic and children, making sure everyone was safe. He always knew the student’s names and always said “Hi”, whether in school or at the store.

Kevin was truly one of the most genuine and kind men I have known. Wishing you peace at this sad time.
