Kevin could always be counted on to lighten the mood at administrative meetings. I still remember some of the hilarious things he said and did. I was so saddened to hear this news. The world of education certainly lost a gem. With deepest condolences.

I remember when I was in middle school Mr. Thacker nicknamed me "The High-five Queen" because I would run around the school giving everyone a high-five. He was the BEST principal anyone could ask for! Rest in Peace Mr. Thacker, condolences to his family 💔

I can remember sitting in Kevin’s office which he graciously shared with me when I was there to coach his math teachers. This particular day, he was working diligently on a lesson for his daughter’s college class. He approached the problem one way, I approached it with a little different take. I always wondered how his daughter made out with that lesson plan. Now I know. Beautiful servant’s heart, devoted to his staff and students, and a devoted father. Well done thou good and faithful servant.

I can still recall the day my husband and I met Mr. Thacker to tour Clough Pike. It was his second year as principal. He spoke so highly of his staff and said, “I promise we will do our best, and you will be happy here. Lunch is on me in April if you feel otherwise.” That April, he asked, “I don’t need to buy lunch, do I?” This was in 2013.

Throughout the years, he would stop me in the car line to chat. We often talked about cars. He started purchasing cars from Sean and would visit him when he brought them in for service. Over the years, he even sent a few others to buy from Castrucci. He always asked, “How is Sean doing? How’s the car business?”

Fast forward to 2019, when my youngest was in Pre-K at Clough. I started volunteering and somehow ended up becoming PTO President. For four years, we had a monthly meeting, and every time, Mr. Thacker would speak. He always highlighted the accomplishments of his staff and students. He was so proud of them!

He was also always willing to have fun. Once, he agreed to kiss a pig if the students reached their fundraising goal. They did, and he followed through! He was so nervous, but he did it because that’s what the students wanted.

Post-COVID, I began subbing and eventually worked in the office for a couple of years. I am so thankful for my time there. I was able to not only assist in the office but also witness the heart Mr. Thacker had for the school. He was hardly ever in his office, as he was always assisting teachers, helping students who were having a hard time, and staying after school for hours to work with those who needed consistency to improve.

Even on the hardest days, he remained calm, patient, and positive. I’m thankful for the chats we had and for the example he set.

Rest in peace Mr. Thacker you have left a legacy of culture, dedication and greatness at Clough Pike.

We are forever thankful for you and the difference you have made in our lives and our children’s lives.

Love,

The Stevenson Family

So many fond memories from when Kevin coached soccer. He dedicated his time and patience to helping young athletes develop not only soccer skills, but the life-long qualities of perseverance, dedication, and hard work. Prayers for the Thacker family in your time of loss.
Our family is heartbroken. Mr. Thacker was the principal at Clough for all four of our children. He was the absolute best and all my kids have wonderful memories of him. Clough Pike will never be the same without him. Seeing him outside at drop off every morning gave me so much comfort and joy. You will be greatly missed. Condolences to the entire family.

Kelsey when she was principal for the day Kevin told her to sit at his desk as a principal should. He just laughed thought that was so funny.
During summer school a few years ago I had a baseball theme for the learning.  I asked Kevin and Doug to do a cold read of Abbott and Costello’s “Who’s on First.” It didn’t take them long to get into the comedy routine. Kevin also brought in his baseball card collection and taught students about the stats on the back. Thank you Kevin for always being willing to do whatever it took for kids to learn. You were a natural!

To Infinity and Beyond, Kevin was light years ahead and was always thinking of new ways to make learning fun!
Kevin was such a great principal to the staff and students at Clough.  We are heartbroken and miss him so much.  He always had a good story to share or a teaching strategy to help improve instruction. Your family will be in my thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
The greatest and funniest principals of all time. Our schools deserve principals like Kevin and I am incredibly grateful to have worked for him.

With admiration and immense respect,

I was so sorry to hear about Kevin's passing. He was such a kind and thoughtful person.  I enjoyed our talks.  He will be missed.
I worked with Ann, Kevin's wife, at Marshall's in high school and Kevin would always come visit her.  In college Ann and I were sorority sisters.  I went to their wedding.  This was unimaginable news and I am so sad for all of the teachers, students, and especially Ann and her daughters Brooke and Alexis.  May God guide everyone Kevin touched and impacted. It's a tough journey but may God's grace comfort all ❤️
Words can’t express how much Kevin will be missed. He WAS school to me. He was an amazing administrator and friend. He was funny, kind, silly, encouraging, and stern when needed. So many prayers are sent to Ann, Brooke, and Alexis. He was always sharing stories of his family that he loved so much. You will be in my thoughts and prayers.

Kevin was a jolly and happy soul. He was infectious and most days working at Clough was filled with laughter. In my years working for Kevin the staff really was a family. We have since welcomed babies, lost spouses, moved, got married— and still have had each other. Kevin brought us together. His infectious laugh and love for life made coming to work happy, even on the tiring days.

Thank you Kevin for being you. For making us laugh, believing in so many of us, for always giving your support— even when that meant we were moving on from Clough. Best boss.

I was heartbroken when I heard the news of Kevin's passing.  He came to Clough when my oldest was in first grade (he is now 20.)  Kevin was a joy from the start.  Working with him to raise funds during the walk a thon just brings a smile to my face.   But what I remember the most is the time he told me Ben (my kid who has a straight north moral compass) had gotten a write up on the bus.   He had to speak with him about "proper" subject matter on the bus.   Needless to say after they talked Kevin agreed with Ben on the topic and the pool scene in Christmas Vacation should have been longer.    Or the time my husband took Ben out if school early and tried to be stealthy about it...to go to AC/DC in Detroit. Kevin just smiled and said have a great time create some memories.   He's legacy will live on!  Rest easy my friend. Rest easy.
