Kevin's obituary

Kevin Krier, 57 was a stalwart family man, ardent volunteer, and vibrant soul born on November 30, 1967. From the family’s perspective, he departed this world too soon on April 25, 2025 but lived a faithful life following his fathers footsteps marked by dedication to his family, his career, and the youth in his community.

Kevin’s persona was like his Dad, Tom Krier, radiating a happy-go-lucky spirit, always fueling the environment with laughter and joy. Agile and playful, he shared many valuable lessons in life, such as the importance of setting and achieving goals, safe driving and not succumbing to peer pressure, choosing friends and words wisely, as well as being an active listener.

Proceeded in death were parents, Diane (nee Nelson) and Tom Krier. Kevin was a loving brother to Christine (Douglas) Arnold, Ken, and Karen (Tom) Smith. All were raised in Milwaukee, WI. Kevin graduated from Pius XI High School, Milwaukee, WI, in 1985. He completed his first degree from Marquette University in Milwaukee, WI in 1989 employed as a Supervisor at UPS.

Kevin married into the Matsen Family, RoseMary (nee Sanchez) and Richard in 1992. Kevin was a loving brother-in-law to Cassandra, Cecily, Morris, Richard Thomas, Carmen (Jeff) Zahn, Consuelo (Damell) Maull, Matt (Patricia), and Mark.

Early in their marriage, Cathy and Kevin led a very nomadic experiential life in the Midwest before Kevin returned to learning and established their family in the Twin Cities. After completing his MBA at Cardinal Stritch University in Minneapolis, MN in 2001 he worked as a project manager and continued his educational pursuits while transitioning into a Faculty role at Capella University.

The Kevin Krier family expanded with two beautiful children Kole and Carly. While they grew up, Kevin focused his talents on fatherhood and serving as a Coach. He was not shy to use YouTube as a research tool to support his work with youth in several organizations, including the Osseo-Maple Grove Football Association, Osseo-Maple Grove Athletic Association, Osseo Maple Grove Basketball Association, and AWANA Youth Ministry.

Kevin deeply cherished the simple joys of life like food at The Lotus in Maple Grove. His love for food was quite evident in other favorites, including Wisconsin Bratwurst and Cheese Curds, Osseo Meat Steaks, RoseMary’s Banana Bread (of which he mastered a Gluten-Free variety), Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, Costco Buffalo Style Chicken Dip, and Mac n Cheese. A devoted sports fan, he cheered for the Packers, Bucks, Brewers, Badgers, Twins, Timberwolves, and the Wild. His favorite local hangouts were The Lookout, Pints and Paddle, Malone’s, and good old fashioned fires on the front patio!

Retiring from his teaching career with Capella University in 2023, Prof Kevin Krier left behind a legacy of being a storyteller and gift-giver. He emboldened every mind with information, heart with courage, and spirit with curiosity; aiming to crate a ripple effect of impact.

In summary, Kevin Krier shed a special kind of light in this world, and his memory will forever remain in our hearts. Let’s gather and celebrate this on May 30th!
