Kathy would often bring in goodies to share with the office staff. She would also always make sure no student left school hungry!
Hiding her golf cart when she would walk into a building and seeing her face when she came out! Good times!

My condolences go out to your family during this difficult time.

Kathy was a coworker at Cypress HS who always put a smile on my face. She was such a positive presence around the school supporting the students. Kathy will be missed.

We send our love and support to Jerry and Mike and the rest of our families. Jerry is our Brother-in-law and since the day I met Jerry over 20 years ago he has been there for his Mom, Kathy. He was an amazing son who she could count on any time of day, no matter the circumstance. Mike, you also gave your love and support and made such sacrifices to fly and drive up to Idaho to help your Mom. She was so lucky to have you both!!!
Kathy was always a funny Woman, whom I loved to chat with when we got the opportunity to visit. She was really funny and I loved her sense of humor. Unfortunately, it was not often enough, and I am sad about that. She raised two hard working sons who do so much for their families. Rest In Peace

Love,
Jen, Kevin, Sunday and Oliver

My mom's ashes. We got her home and are in planning for a memorial service. I'm glad she's with me and my family. She's is missed everyday and I'm glad she's at peace. Love you mom!
Kathy was really funny and she always made me laugh. I would crake up when students would try to give her crap and she would just handle the situation and walk away shaking her head. Thank you for the smiles Kathy, you will be missed.
It is really sad that Kathy is gone. I am her son Jerry’s mother-in-law. (Jerry is married to my daughter.)
Kathy and I went out to breakfast numerous times. And we used to text back-and-forth all the time. We had planned to do a lot more things but then Covid hit. We had a lot of laughs and I will truly miss her.
Kathy loved and adored her sons and her grandchildren more than anything!

She was thee most kindest person always had a smile loved seeing her when ever we had our security meetings I work at savanna high for security but I new Cathy she will be greatly missed
I worked with Kathy at Cypress High School from 2013-2017. As a substitute Library Media Tech, I had the privilege of teaching her how to log in to her AUHSD email. Kathy would come into the library and grumble about having to figure it out, but really did not want to have anything to do with the computer.

One day she spoke up and said she gave up on trying to figure the ... thing out. I asked her what she was trying to do and she shared with me that she was very frustrated on how to open up her school email. I was excited that she told me and I told her I would be happy to help her and show her how. Kathy insisted she tried and tried and she was done with it. Luckily, I convinced her to let me help her by telling her it was just like driving her car; she doesn't have to know how it works but just how to drive it. She agreed to let me show her how easy it really was. From that day on Kathy felt empowered. I am very proud of her for not giving up and I am very honored to have been one who she trusted to teach her how to open up this whole new world of AUHSD email.

A few weeks later, Kathy approached me and another colleague and told them how much she appreciated me showing her how to navigate her email. That was very nice of her to say. I will miss Kathy and remember her as one of my favorite coworkers at Cypress High School.

To Kathy's family, I am truly sorry for your loss. Sincerely, Kori Muniz Jones<3

We are so sorry to hear of Kathy's untimely passing. She was so faithful to come to her grandkids' birthday parties so I had the pleasure of chatting with her many times over the last 20+ years. She will be missed by so many. -The Mitchell Family in Idaho

Where do I start....I have so many great memories. Kathy reminded me so much of my own mom that she and I would banter back-and-forth daily. It was so much fun. I loved how she would complain about something, only to do the thing with great fidelity and heart. Kathy worked security for Cypress, but she also worked weekends with Carrie Vaughn and me conducting testing for teacher credentialing. So many different issues we all had to deal with and Kathy would just get so frustrated with the stupidity of some people....it would crack us all up. I loved watching her get pissed off....because her heart was not angry and we all knew it....she was just so damn funny. Her bark was bigger than her bite. We had so much fun....and Kathy, we knew, had so much fun with us and that is what was so wonderful and special.

One year, Carrie and I decorated her security golf cart with Christmas decorations...lights and all...hoping to get her to gripe....but instead, she left the cart decorated into February. She was so touched by it. It was one of the most touching moments for us too ... It meant a lot to her...that picture has to be somewhere!

Kathy loved what she did even though she'd complain about it all the time....everyone knew however...she had a wonderful heart. She loved the school, the staff, and the students. And she was loved.

Anyone who really knew Kathy, knows exactly what I am talking...

Kathy spoke often about her sons...and her grandkids. She loved them so much. She loved hearing from them and seeing them. We talked about her family a lot....they meant the world to her.

There was and always will be a tender spot in my heart for Kathy. By the way....the picture posted here...Kathy and Santa....I am Santa ... she's sittin on my lap.....and we all know Kathy was on the naughty list! LOL.

God Bless Kathy and her family.

It seems like only yesterday that Brad and Kathy found each other. I fell in love with my sister in law right away. They were so much alike in so many ways. Their love of sports and family was special. We enjoyed going down to Anaheim to visit when we could and really enjoyed her coming up to us for a visit. We kept in touch when she moved to Idaho, but missed seeing her. When she started to have health issues, it was hard being so far away. We both loved and miss her so very much.

Kathy was a joy to work with during the 12 years I was at Cypress High School. Every time she got her paycheck, she showed up with a big box of donuts to share with the office staff. She loved shuttling the administrators around campus in her golf cart, while we got to enjoy her great wit and colorful stories. After I retired, I occasionally stopped by campus and was always greeted with a big hug from Kathy. She had a heart of gold and will be missed. Many condolences to all of the family.

I am so sorry for your loss. Working with Kathy at Cypress High School was an adventure to say the least. As I walked around the campus with some of the students, she always made an effort to talk to us and find out about their day and what they were learning. She cared about the students, all of them and was hard on them in her own special way...tough love! (She would park her golf cart behind the block wall on the side of the school to catch students ditching and then would lecture them as she drove them back to class). They listened to her and cared for her, because she was the mother figure at school to them. She wouldn't take no lip or disrespect from any of them, and in return the students (including my 2 sons) treated her like family.

To Mike, Jerry, and family,
I was honored to work with your mom for over 10 years! She was a blessing to those of us that got to know her. She had a big heart for students, especially those that might have otherwise not been seen. She was stern when she had to be, but always with love in her heart. She was not afraid to speak up for what she believed in! That did not always go over well with some, but that would not stop her. I would often see her giving student a ride in her golf cart. Many people did not know, but that was their counseling session with her. She would listen, encourage, and sometimes redirect them if it called for it. Kathy also loved visiting with all the special needs students and would visit their classroom daily. Thank you for sharing her with us for all those years! We will always remember the special person she was!

R.I.P. Kathy - always had a positive spirit and would never fail to catch us kids ditching class, haha!

Sending love to her family and friends - may she watch over us all up there!
