Doren,
I was very saddened to hear about KB. My children and I are keeping you in our prayers if you need anything, please do not hesitate to reach out.

It was a great shock when I saw this, Doren. I'd thought you two would kind of go on forever. I regularly followed KB and her rants on facebook. Everything from the embarrassment of Trump to the latest adventures of your cats. I deeply appreciate both of you, for your friendship, the influence of your art, the kindness of your hospitality, and the solid quality of your relationship to each other. The two of you are in my heart, friend.

Oh, Doren; I am so sorry for your loss. My deepest sympathies. May her memory be a blessing. (Many years ago, I worked as an actor for your touring theatre company, Traveling Lantern.) Rest in Peace, KB. Flights of Angels. 🙏

We were a band of six who loved theater, wine and each other. Our best times were spent in each others back yards but there was one memorable weekend in a rented house in Yosemite. Good stories, food and around 22 bottles of wine. We went for a hike and about half way to the destination I REALLY needed a rest stop. But it was closed! So I had to go into the woods to relieve myself. It wasn't a number one either. KB was announcing what I was doing at the top of her lungs to everyone's amusement. Fortunately, only my wife's protestations prevented her from taking a photo of me in a very compromising pose.
This photo is from a different time but it epitomized what a great dame she was. Just always the life of the party.
Can't imagine being quite as carefree without you in my universe any more

I have been trying to think about what to say for days. Grace in this arena is not my forte. But I owe KB so much. I owe her the loyalty she gave me, the prospective of a larger world I wasn't engaging with anywhere near enough as an adult. I owe her (insisting on) helping me to hone my understanding of the professional world in which we all worked. This posting is not going to be a piece of beautiful prose. I'm just really beginning to come to grips with this all. I will miss her everyday.

Doren, I wish I had had a chance to meet K.B., but sadly had not. Such a sadness when such a bright star goes out. You are in my heart, dear Cousin. I love you and pray that you may find peace, in time.

I am so sorry for your loss of this beautiful human being! Depressing is such a difficult disease. I think you for having the courage to share that KB took her own life. Your willingness to share this may well save another life and be another way that KB will continue to contribute to the world even though her physical presence is no longer with us.

I am so deeply saddened over your sudden loss....I wish I had gotten to know her....words cannot express how I feel but I hope she has found her peace!!

This news is an arrow to the heart. I haven't been in touch with KB for many years, but the memories of working with her onstage are vivid.
Titania, you vexed me mightily, but captured my heart and enchanted me to no end.
Then, my queen, in silence sad,
Trip we after the night's shade:...
Love,
Oberon

I remember KB driving me down to Yosemite National Park to do the Ranger Ned show with Traveling Lantern, coincidentally to replace an actor who had just tragically and unexpectedly passed. She let me sleep while she drove the whole way, hate-listening to right-wing talk radio to stay awake. On the last evening before arriving at Yosemite, she insisted on ordering a huge meal for me at a diner, including a fried Snickers bar for dessert, explaining "This will be the last good food you have for a while."

Sending love to all who was close to KB. She was an inspiration.

What an amazing human we had in KB. May her memory be eternal.

I’ve only gotten to know Doren in the last few months and never met KB. But from all I’ve seen and read, I gathered she was a beautiful, kind, gifted, and giving person. Wishing everyone who loved her peace.

I looked up to KB -- her wit, her talent, her fierceness and passion - her love for Doran and her friends and animals - she made a difference in this world -- a real difference. I am very saddened by her death -- very saddened. May she find peace and may peace come to her beautiful husband, Doran and the family.... she was beloved.

I am stunned. We had our disagreements but none of that matters now. She was a part of my life, and important part, at COM and at NCSA. I hope she's at peace now.
