Our beautiful Mother, Joyce Winifred Welch-Daft, passed away at the age of 75 on Friday March 14, 2025, in Kingwood WV. She was born on October 29, 1949, in Morgantown to the late Donaldeen and Robert Welch.

She was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She loved her family and dogs unconditionally and fiercely and her kindness couldn’t be matched. She was the type of person that never knew a stranger and could strike up a conversation with anyone.

She is survived by her children, Erica L Candella, Richard (Scott) Welch, Joseph (Bubba) Daft, and Christy Goodman, her siblings, Helen Welch-Swaney, Jamie and Lee Welch, and Jackie Shahan, all of Morgantown. She is also survived by her grandkids, Brendon Candella, Haylee Daft, Brittney, Kelsey, Kayden, and Justin Lamar, Marshal Dillie all of Morgantown and Steven Welch of Texas, and nieces and nephews, Larry D and Talley Swaney, Roberta Swaney and Heather, Tammy and Michael Welch. She also had some “faraway kids” Sheila Daft-Fuentes, Dale Ray Daft, and Kelly Passalaqua of Maine.

She is preceded in death by her partner, Tom Hoak of Jeanette PA, Dale Daft, her sons Kevin Daft, Jamie (Chub) Welch and Aaron Daft, mother and father Donaldeen and Robert Welch, sister Heidi Shahan, Aunt Winifred Welch, Grandma Lilly and Grandpap Gilmore Welch, brother-in-law Larry Swaney SR, and nephews and nieces Samantha Swaney and Christopher and Joshua Moore.

Joyce will be deeply missed by all that knew her. She was definitely one of a kind!

Per her wishes, she will be cremated, and a memorial service will be held at Clinton District Fire Hall on May 3rd from 4:00 to 7:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Dering-Henson Funeral Home in Morgantown WV in her name.
