Still think of you often, brother. I regret my own part for not finding the time near the end to come see you and actually catch up like we used to. For my own solace, I know Jesus was in your heart, and so I'll see you again someday. Till that glorious day, continue resting in peace.

I am saddened to hear the news about Josh. I cherish the memories of our family friendship with the Ugastes through church and youth ministry. I remember Josh for his sense of humor, his sensitivity, and his depth of insight on spiritual matters. I remember him talking to a room of about 60 students and adult leaders, explaining the term ‘miry clay’ -  in a way that was both funny and serious - and what can happen when you have your feet stuck in it!

Rob - I remember our occasional breakfasts at Denny’s. My deepest sympathies to all the family.

I'm sorry to hear about Josh's passing.  We were at LZHS at the same time.    While I never played a sport in high school we share a common veteran identity.  I am grateful to him for his service as a Ranger.  Grace and peace to his family.

I am still deeply saddened about the unexpected passing of Josh. Please accept my heartfelt condolences during this difficult time. Josh was a cherished friend, and his presence will be sorely missed by all who knew him.

I fondly remember the moments we shared together, and Josh's competitiveness, loyalty, and infectious laughter will forever remain in my memory. His departure has left a void that cannot be filled, and I share in your grief.

May you find comfort in the love and support of family and friends during this time of mourning. Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. If there's anything I can do to help, please don't hesitate to reach out.

With heartfelt sympathy,

Brandon Bolhous

Served with him in TF 1-28 when he was as green as they come… great man. I’m devastated to hear of his loss. Prayer for his family.
Coach Ugaste is a huge influence on my life. He taught me a lot about the mentality needed to be a great in athletics and successful in life. I'm very sad to hear this news. My condolences to the family.
From long talks walking through a snowy Augustana campus to climbing mountains in Tahoe, we saw and shared a lot, buddy. You were always one my closest friends, Josh. No matter time or distance, it was always the same genuine joy and brotherhood. I'll see you again someday, my friend. Be at peace and Happy Birthday brother.
A  lesson learned. We had planned to visit you but we never quite got around to it. The lesson is don't wait - make it happen.  We miss you, Josh, and are grateful we reconnected at DJ's wedding. Your life truly deserves to be celebrated.

My deepest,  heartfelt condolences to Josh's  family and friends!   He knew my son Billy, at LZHS '03 ...  Such a wonderful person.

Dear family,

Linda and I just heard of the sad news of Josh today. Our hearts are broken and we are praying for you all. He was always such a blessing to us and those around him.

I know that he is with his Heavenly Father and we pray for peace and strength for all of you. It’s been many years since we last spoke but it was a great privilege to be his Youth Pastor and friend and to share time with you all as a family. Our love and prayers are with you! Josh and I were senior year roommates at Augustana. Within 10 minutes of meeting, we both laughed and said we could tell we'd be good friends. Between playing rugby and sharing thoughts on life and our shared faith, we became close and remained so through the following years, even after graduation and each relocating to different parts of the east coast. I'll never forget driving down to Charlotte to spend Thanksgivings with him. After we both came back to IL and a few years of picking up where we left off, we lost touch as he entered the army and relocated. I'm so grateful that we reconnected after a while on the phone to catch up once in a while and ever more so this last year, right away able to laugh and pick up right where we left off again.. RIP, my brother, my friend. I'll miss you, but I'll see you again one day when we both walk in the company Jesus in His Glory.

I am so sorry for your loss. This breaks my heart. Although I haven’t seen Josh in a very long time he always had a smile on his face and always willing to help anyone. Rest in peace Josh ❤️‍🩹
