Joshua's obituary
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Joshua Earl Woodrow Goode who left this world on September 18, 2024. Born on April 22, 1981, Joshua’s life was marked by his warmth, love, and deep loyalty to the people and things he loved. His big smile, bear hugs, and candid wit was enjoyed by all who had the honor to know him.
Joshua’s story started in 1981 when he was born with a severe heart defect and he became one of the first babies in the Commonwealth to have successful single ventricle heart surgery, which helped him flourish for decades. Holstein cows were one of the loves of his life from an early age.
He graduated from Staunton River High School in 1999 where he formed many of his closest friendships. Any story of Joshua would not be complete without highlighting his time at Virginia Tech, graduating in 2004. He was an avid fan of the Hokies and was the proudest member of the VTuba family. From Blacksburg to the Bayou, many of his fondest memories were made on football Saturdays.
Joshua is survived by his spouse of 11 years, Robyne Lorek Goode, whom he treasured. She is affectionately known as “his person” and became his biggest advocate for adventures, life, and health. His parents, Mark and Susan Goode, carry on his memory as well as beloved brothers Zachary, Caleb, and Isaac Goode. His brother and sisters-in-law Jeremy, Julia, and Cat will fondly recall many stories with Josh. Niece Caroline and nephew Brayden will undoubtedly continue some of his traditions. He is also survived by his grandmother, Gertie Mae Goode, as well as several aunts, uncles, and cousins whom he loved dearly.
A Celebration of Life for Joshua will be held on October 19, 2024, from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the Falling Creek Park Picnic Pavilion in Bedford. All friends and family are invited to come as you are and share their cherished memories of Joshua, helping us to remember and celebrate his life. Light food and beverages will be available and feel free to bring your favorite side dish or dessert, if you wish!
