Josephine's obituary

Josephine “Jo” Mary Piccone, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed at age 96 on January 8, 2023 at her home in Rockville, Maryland. Born in Italy in 1926, she arrived by ship at Ellis Island when she was one and a half years old. She grew up in Ardmore, Pennsylvania outside of Philadelphia. Jo married her life-long partner, Domenic, in November 1945. After some military moves they ended up in suburban Maryland in 1959. Dom and Jo moved to their final home in Rockville, Maryland in 1969.

Jo was a stay-at-home mom for her boys Don and Jim until they were grown. Then she worked at jobs ranging from pharmaceuticals to retail, well into her 80s. She was active in several groups at St. Patrick Catholic Church and a regular with her bridge-playing friends. She was lively beyond her years, always a favorite in her many activities because she was so kind, always smiling and cheerful, generous with her time, an incredible event hostess, and she could still drive “the old people” around.

Jo is survived by her two sons, four grandsons, and three great grandsons. She was predeceased by her husband Dom.
