Joseph's obituary

Joseph Arner Copeland III passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family on August 1st, 2020. Joseph was born November 11th, 1947 in Bloomington, IL to Gail and Joseph Copeland Jr. He attended Illinois Soldiers and Sailors Home, Bloomington High School, and graduated from University High School in 1965. Joseph joined the Marine Corps upon completing high school. His family takes great pride in his service to God, Country, and to his Corps in The Vietnam War. Upon returning from Vietnam, Joseph became a bartender at the Brittany (Jim's Steakhouse) where he met the love of his life. He married Anna Cashmer on August 24th 1974.
Anna preceded Joe in her transition to Heaven in 2013. One of Joe's favorite things was the time he spent fishing in Wisconsin with his wife and 2 daughters Shauntona (Kevin Wagner) and Buffy (Joseph Bunch). Joe is survived by his 2 daughters. He dearly loved his 6 grandchildren Janelle Dossey, Victoria Ohnemus, Sgt. Christian Ohnemus USMC, George Ohnemus IV , Hannah Ohnemus, and Isabella Bunch. Joe was also blessed with 3 great grandchildren and a large family through his wife who loved him dearly. All who knew Joe know he hated being fussed over and was a quiet sweethart who was content with the company of his loved ones. In lieu of funeral services, to attest to Joe's character and happiest memories, we ask that all who wish to take a time out to spend a day honoring Joe by taking the most beloved ones in your life fishing for the day. Take a photo, and cherish it like Joe did with his girls.
