Chris's obituary
Joseph Christopher “Chris” Holmes, of Edmond, Oklahoma left us to be with his savior on 21 August 2021. He was born the son of Joseph Franklin Holmes and Theressa Faye Holmes (Ellerd), in Riverside California on 26 August 1964.
He is survived by his brother Greg, sister-in-law Zoraida, his daughter Camilya, fiancé Ann Horton, her two sons Bo and Deegan, nieces Danny, Alexis, and Lauren, as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins. Preceded in death is his beloved father Joseph Holmes, mother Theressa Holmes, brother Mitchel Holmes.
His family resided in Durant, Oklahoma before moving to Edmond, to be closer to Mitch and family. Chris’s accomplishments were many and among them was being drafted by the Baltimore Orioles at the age of 17 as a catcher, then to go on playing professional baseball, becoming a PRCA steer wrestler, a US Defense Contractor working in Iraq, a coach to youth in baseball, ministering to many as part of Alpha Warrior Ministry, but most importantly being Dad to Camilya, taking care of his Mom before passing with advanced dementia, planning his future with his fiancée Ann and spending loving time with his brother and friends.
His departure from this world leaves us shocked and many of us deeply hurting. But what Chris would ask each of us is “don’t be somber, rejoice in the gift that is time and life and do something good for someone else”. He lived by his favorite verse Philippians 4:13 – “I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength”, and he certainly had the strength of many men, and the gentle heart which reached and connects us all today.
