A couple weeks ago, I was doing summer cleaning in my office and came across Jonathan's original job application. I was reminded of so many wonderful things about him - his passion for education, his kindness to each student he tutored, how he brought positivity and laughter into a conversation. His dedication to learning and to helping our students create better lives for themselves is something that will always be with me. ❤️

I called your phone and suddenly it was disconnected. I found it to be odd, since you have been having your number for like forever. I decided to google your name, and this is what i came across. My beloved friend…..

I worked with Jonathan at San Jac for almost 6 years, but I still remember the first time I met him. While talking about his tutoring schedule that day, he told me a story about being out on the water with friends and jumping off some rocks and being surrounded by jellyfish. Even though I don't remember the story exactly, I remember him making me laugh and being reminded of my own trips with friends, also being a water person myself. As a tutor, Jonathan was someone I relied on when I had a student who needed someone to be extra patient or understanding, or when a student had struggled when working with past tutors. I knew Jonathan would be the person that could get them to understand and to feel better about their struggle to grasp material. I am saddened by his loss, but grateful at the chance to have known him. My thoughts and heart go out to his family and friends.

I wish I could have spent more time with my cousin JJ. He was a gentle and intelligent man. I will never forget the last time I played chess with him in Texas. We were interrupted in the middle of the game and had to put everything away. The next day he asked if I would like to continue the game of chess and he proceeded to reset all of the games pieces from memory in exactly the positions they had been a day prior. He then swiftly proceeded to win the game. I wish peace for him and everyone who loved him. Love, Ben

So sad and shocked to hear of JJ’s passing, he is such a caring and kind person and leaves a large whole in our hearts. I have such fond childhood memories of my cousins visits at our grandparents home in Pennsylvania. He will be forever missed and the only solace we find is in knowing he’s now with his father and brother. Love Chelsea

Jonathan is greatly missed. I had the pleasure to work with Jonathan off and on over the past year or so. I got to know him on a week long work trip to Montana. He was always joking and a very joyful person even during difficult circumstances. I will not forget an afternoon eating out with him and Bill Burton on the trip at a local burger joint. He had a PB&J burger with bacon jam, Bill and I were not adventurous enough to try that particular burger, but Jonathan raved about it and said that was one of the best burgers he had ever had. It was a pleasure to have worked with and known Jonathan for the seemingly short time that I have. I always looked forward to working with him when assigned as a part of the team, he is missed by the loss of the talents he brought to the work force but even more so for the happiness he brought to those who worked with him. God Bless!
