John was in my class for third grade and fourth grade. He was a very smart young man and he treated me with kindness and respect. He had a beautiful smile and his sense of humor made me laugh. I hope he knew that I did worry about him though. I kept up with John through his mother over the years. Johnโ€™s later years were troubling, but I kept praying for him. Just a year or so ago we texted back and forth and I told him I loved him and still believed in him. He was looking forward to the future. I was devastated when I learned from two of his fourth grade classmates that John had died. I wished I could have reached out to him one more time. Johnny, I love you and I know that I told you that Jesus loved you. May you rest in eternal peace. My world has been broken fhis week, but know I will always remember the two years that I was your teacher and cared so deeply.
