Johnny's obituary
Johnny Dixon, age 83, of Lyons, died Saturday, June 29, 2024, after an extended illness. He was born in Wheeler County, but lived most of his life in Toombs County. He worked in construction, drove a truck for Georgia Highway Express and Transus, and worked at Handy Andy. He was a member of South Thompson Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by his parents, Lige Alvin “Preacher” Dixon and Sally Ann Thigpen Dixon; two sisters, Margarette Dykes and Gwen Miller.
Mr. Dixon is survived by a daughter, Gail Dixon of South Thompson Community; a son, Lesley Dixon and wife Fonda of Brunswick; former wife, June Outler Dixon of South Thompson; a granddaughter, Amanda Daly; a great-granddaughter, Brayla Daly; two sisters, Jean Thompson of South Thompson and Ruth Hochstetler of Tarrytown; two brothers, James Dixon and wife Wanda of Carlinville, Illinois, and Allen Dixon and wife Kim of Hickory, North Carolina; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held Tuesday afternoon, July 2nd, at 3:00 in the chapel Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Pastor BL Horne officiating. Interment will follow at Lakeview Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday afternoon from 1:30 until just prior to the service.
Active pallbearers are Kenny Thompson, Justin Thompson, Ronnie Miller, Jason Miller, Alan Lundy.
Honorary pallbearers will be Raiford Blount, Kevin Copeland, Paul Copeland, Edro Sapp, Austin Sears, James Thompson, Ricky Thompson, employees of Handy Andy, employees of Oxley Park, and Affinis Hospice.
