John's obituary

It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of John "Johnny Bill" Cox, who left us on May 23, 2025. He was born on April 26, 1947 in Marietta, OK, and led a remarkable life filled with success, love and adventure.

John was a proud graduate of Oklahoma State University, Stillwater, where he completed his degree in Business in 1959. Having a pioneering spirit, he relocated to Taipei, Taiwan in 1975, an adventure that marked the beginning of his illustrious career in Asia. To this day, no one quite knows how he survived that long without picking up any Mandarin ;)

John was a man of many interests. He loved to sail, spending countless weekends taking his family around the islands of Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Singapore to explore. He was an avid scuba diver, traveling to remote locations like Ponape and Truk Lagoon and bringing friends and families to share in his passion for the seas. When he wasn't traveling extensively for work, he would take his family around the world connecting with family, cultures, and forging incredible memories.

John joined Polo Ralph Lauren in 1977 and spent a fulfilling 25 years with the company, retiring in 2002. During that time he forged incredible friendships with colleagues and suppliers all around the world. He was a mentor, leader, and inspiration to countless individuals that still cherish his friendship to this day.

He was a beloved father to his sons, John and Darren. He will be remembered fondly by his brothers, Ozel and Richard, and his sister, Peggy. His grandchildren, the newest additions to his family, brought great joy to his later years. John’s dog Sugar, along with countless family members and friends, will sorely miss his warm and loving presence.

In lieu of flowers, John would wish that those near and dear to him considering donations to the MD Anderson Cancer Center, in hopes that they may advance treatments to cure cancers like his. Donations can be made at the following URL: https://everloved.com/life-of…

John’s life was a testament to the power of kindness, generosity and joy. He will be deeply missed.
