John's obituary

John Clinton Wetzel III, 41, of Clermont, FL passed away on April 25, 2021 at ORMC after his car accident on April 17th. His family is shocked and deeply saddened by his loss.

John was born on August 10, 1979 to John and Vickie Wetzel in West Palm Beach. After graduating from South Lake High School in 1998, John attended Lake Sumter Community College with a focus in Engineering.

John changed his focus when he became employed at his father's pool company where he learned and mastered every phase of construction. John got his pool contractors license and hoped to one day open his own company.

He was survived by his parents; his wife, Alisa Rashinskas, his children Maera, John, and Matthew; his brothers, Christopher and Justin Wetzel; his sister Lauren Briles; his brother in law Calvin Briles; his nieces, Sonya Hillis, Annaliese “Boopa” and Lorelai “Lolo” Briles; his mother and father in law, Dana and Ed Rashinskas; and his brother in law Jared Rashinskas. He was predeceased by his uncle, Joey Meade; grandmother, Betty J. Meade “GiGi”; grandfather, Conley Meade; grandmother, Betty A. Wetzel; and grandfather, John C. Wetzel Sr.

John married the love of his life, his best friend, Alisa, and they settled in Astatula, Florida. John became a father to her son Matthew Mendez and added two more children to their family Maera and John IV whom he loved dearly. John loved the water, especially the ocean. He loved spending any time he could there whether it was simply with his toes in the sand, sailing, boating, or fishing. He played soccer in high school and even coached the girls high school soccer team and for the YMCA after graduating high school. He loved playing pool and kicking back after work with live music and friends. He loved big trucks from the time he could say big truck. If he wasn’t building something he was fixing something which included his various “big” project trucks. He was an amazing, talented, bright young man with a sense of humor all his own. He could make anyone laugh but he was incredibly deep and thoughtful. He was a good ole boy who knew how to have fun and never minded getting a little dirt or grease on his hands or working hard. He would give you the shirt off your back if he thought you needed it and if he didn’t have a shirt then he’d repair the one you have better than new. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and by all who knew him.

A celebration of life is scheduled for 4pm Wednesday, May 5 at the Green Cabin Ranch in Astatula, Fl. A funeral and visitation will be held Thursday May 6th at Brewer and Sons Funeral home. John’s loss was unexpected and tragic. John left behind two children that are still in school and a wife who is unable to work at this time due to illness. His parents and siblings are requesting that anyone who wishes to honor John please make a donation to be used for his children and their needs.

The family want to thank everyone for the prayers and love we received while John was in the hospital. John will be so profoundly missed and was so important to us all. Until we see you again John Boy we love you and will carry you with us in our hearts forever.
