John Raymond Mickelson, 76, was born in DeWitt, IA on June 14, 1943. He passed away peacefully in Florissant, MO at St. Sophia Health and Rehab Facility on March 12, 2020. John was a graduate of Bellarmine College Preparatory in San Jose, CA and the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD. John was a scholar-athlete in varsity football and lacrosse and played in the 1964 Cotton Bowl and was named second team All-American in Lacrosse in 1965. He retired in 1967 and remained a devout Midshipman his entire life. John raised a family and worked as a design engineer in Northern California for Memorex and Lockheed. He later relocated to Alton, IL and worked for Lewis & Clark Community College in Godfrey, IL for fifteen years as Facilities/AutoCAD specialist before retiring in 2008. John is son of Thomas and Myrl Mickelson and preceded in death by his brothers Phil, Joe and Mike, his son Mike, and his wife Jennifer. He is survived by his sisters Margaret and Barbara, his four children, Jason, Joshua, Heather and Tracie, his four granddaughters and his first wife Juliana.
