John's obituary
John was married to the love of his life, Ali ( Alice) Earp Mattingly for 49 years. Together they raised one child, who gave them four grandchildren.
In 1975, John started his own business John L. Mattingly Construction Co.,Inc., after 36 years in the business he retired. During retirement he enjoyed spending the winter months in Florida. John enjoyed traveling, was a avid outdoorsman, hunting, riding motorcycles, and building hot rods. John was discreet with his community involvement, including volunteering at the local food bank and helping other organizations throughout the community. John was a active member of St. Ignatius Church, a devoted Catholic, loving husband, father, father-in-law and grandfather.
John is survived by his wife Alice Mattingly, daughter Kellie Thomason, son -in-law Brian Thomason and grandchildren Jordon Gandee, Alexandra Gandee, Allie Myers and Danni Rae Myers, sister Linda (Moe) Hackett, brother Bill (Ginny) Mattingly and brother Bobby Mattingly. He is proceeded in death by his parents Carroll and Alice Mattingly, sister-in -law Nancy Hurley and son -in-law Danny Myers
Due to Covid restrictions a Celebration of Life will be determined at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family is asking for memorial contributions to be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital ( STJUDE.ORG)
