John's obituary
John served in the Air Force in Nov 1963 through June of 1967. He was an E3 Airman Basic and Air Freight Specialist while enlisted. He was deployed to Vietnam from 1966 - 1967. When President Kennedy was assassinated he immediately enlisted the very next day. He was a proud Veteran and loved that he served our country.
After serving in the military John opened a restaurant and ran this with his family in Pennsylvania for 1 year. When they decided to close the restaurant, they moved back to Washington state. He went back to school for 2 year and got his Associates Degree in marketing. He went to work for Safeway for 9 years and at the end of his tenure he was an Assistant Manager. After leaving Safeway he had a few different jobs and then got hired on with Boeing. He worked for Boeing as a welder on the tail section of the plane for several years. He did a few more jobs after that and finally decided to retire around 2005.
John had several hobbies throughout the years. He loved to bowl and became a semi professional bowler. He played darts on a few leagues. He coached girls fast pitch. John loved to watch and attend football and baseball games. He was a die hard fan of the UW Huskies team & Penn State. He also loved to cheer on the Seattle Seahawks, Pittsburg Steelers, Mariners, & Tacoma Rainiers.
He loved to sing karaoke and even started his own business of doing weddings and parties as a karaoke host. When that became too difficult to set up, he would just go to the places he loved to sing at and spend time with friends and family.
John loved to travel. He did not care to fly, so he would drive across country to visit every state with the exception of Hawaii and Alaska. He even drove across Canada with his family at one time. In the last few years he finally got a stamp on his passport and went on several cruises to Mexico with his wife. On one of the trips he even got to go up and sing on stage. He was very proud of that.
John enjoyed spending time with his family. He had four children that he was very proud of and loved seeing and doing things with. He always supported everyone in all their activities. He would attend every game, theater plays, cheer competitions, singing events, band performances, tournaments, and so on. He would even travel to attend these events. He loved to support his family in all they did. It gave him great joy!
John was a very social person. He loved talking to everyone. It did not matter if he knew them or not. Any time John went somewhere, he would always run into someone he knew. He would stop and talk to them forever; he definitely had the gift of gab. He loved to laugh and joke, especially with his breakfast buddies. John also enjoyed a good meal. He loved trying to find those ma and pa places to eat at. He would also buy foods from back east, and when they arrived share them with everyone. If you needed a good place to go eat, he would be the one to recommend it even if it was out of state.
John loved his church and his Pastor. He attended church almost every Sunday with his wife for almost 30 years. He was a proud member and always supported the congregation.
Due to John's unexpected passing we are asking for donations in lieu of flowers at this time to help with burial expenses. We appreciate all of your thoughts, prayers, and support in this difficult time. He will be greatly missed by all.
