My deepest condolences go out to the Ferrandino family. What devastating news. I am so incredibly sorry for your loss.

I had the pleasure of spending a year with John, Kiran, Shaila, and Nico as an au pair in 2014–2015, and I'm grateful to have been part of the extended family ever since. I will always remember John for his open and welcoming personality, his joy, his kindness, and how he made me feel like part of the family. He was an amazing dad to Shay and Nico, and it was wonderful to see him with them every day. So many moments with John come to mind, showing what a person he was. For example, I remember how he got up early one weekend morning when my family and I were leaving for New York City only to offer us coffee. I also remember how he made me feel seen during a long drive to New Jersey for him and Kiran’s high school reunion when I had just arrived in the US. I was still having a hard time settling in. He went out of his way to cheer me up. He got snacks at the gas station, told me funny stories, and really listened to me.

Sending all my love to Shaila, Nico, Kiran, Nilsa, and the whole family.
