What were John's favorite ways to spend free time?

Being a chef, even when he was not working as one, cooking was a big part of his life.  He could create a gourmet meal out of the most random things we had in the house sometimes- but when he really enjoyed it was for events, holidays, and when he could get creative.   He cooked with love and a passion for good food that everyone could enjoy- even when it was a lot of work.  And it was- he just made it look easy, just as he could with most things that he knew how to do.  Once we had JJ, it was spending time with him, as a family and also dad-son time of course!  We made some wonderful memories in Florida being able to enjoy visiting all the theme parks many times.  We started learning to line dance back in 2011, and made such a wonderful group of friends through that community- the "Ohana"- or "Kohana" as he once accidentally called it when making a toast!  We also played co-ed rec softball together for probably close to 15 years; and John was a proud member of the Woonsocket Sentinels semi-pro football team back in his 20s.
