My sincere condolences to you and your family. John hired me a couple of months prior to his retirement from CA State Lottery. He was a good person to work with and I am thankful to him for giving me the opportunity to work for a great organization.

I met John in December of 1995 when I joined the California Lottery team. At that time he was my supervisor. With years working with him he was always inquisitive with questions. One day while John was riding with me he asked me about my diabetes. I told him that I take three or four shots a day. He asked “do they hurt” I said no. but don’t fill me up with water because I’ll leak all over. It gave him a big laugh.

After I retired from the Lottery in December 2005, my bride and I moved to Yuma, Arizona. During the summers Cheri and I were on the road touring the U.S.  John loved the pictures of our trips that I sent him.  I kept in touch with him for years. I made trips to San Diego and on a few occasions, we had lunch together. He will be truly missed.

     My condolence to the family.

Querida prima y familia,

Nashki Nahuel Jerez

Work buds — with John and friends

My condolences to Ruth, Alejandra and families.  I first met John when I traveled with my wife to be to Cardiff CA. That lead to a friendship that lasted until now. Many visits to Vista ensued attending family milestones. The quality that most stands out with John is the aspect of him making you feel like a friend  immediately and over time sustaining that friendship with dedication. His passing is a great loss.

John was and always will be a great friend.   I will miss knowing he is in this world.
