Joel's obituary
A letter from Kim, Joel's wife.
Joel was always a champion for the animals even before I met him. As an underwater photographer for the Cousteus, he traveled the world to help capture the essence of the best of underwater life. Joel was an ambassador for Altasea.
I met Joel later in life and we spent the last 25 years together. Joel worked hard at being a music executive and up until the day he died, he kept working.
If you were lucky enough to get to know Joel, you found a deep well of information about everything! Mostly to those who worked with Joel became his friends because he was such a giving person with his time and everything else he had to offer.
Loving an animal rescue person is daunting but Joel carried me through the good and the really challenging times. Joel and I spent the last year fighting for his life. More than anything he did not want to leave me. I was blessed to have had this last year and be able to be there for him. It would be remiss of me to say that I would not have had the prviledge if not for the women at Shelter Hope Pet Shop who held it together dog by dog; Gayle Aheren, Sydney Sordia, Daniele Jansen, Rachel Perlmutter, and Isabelle Jansen all worked overtime to fill in the many gaps from my absense.
This page in honor of Joel is to let you give back .
There are many ways to do that at Shelter Hope Pet Shop… Donate, Volunteer, or drop off supplies or foster.
We have been saving lives at the Janss Marketplace for 15 years and we are proud to help our community in finding a pet who needs a second chance.
