Joe loved to go out to the movie theater, I worked security at a theater in Round Lake when Joe lived in Lake villa IL, that’s where I met Joe, he would come an hour before his scheduled movie just to talk to me, we would talk about his service in the US Navy to movies he had scene, I thought Joe was retired but he told me that after his wife passed away he really didn’t want to spend all his time at home by himself so he worked some hours and would go out to the show every week, one night I didn’t see Joe come in for a couple weeks, than when I did see him come, I asked where he’d been, he said he got into a car accident, he was bruised a bit but I offered my help if he needed it, he said no he was ok, I knew Joe had a daughter because one year he had invited me over for thanksgiving, he said his daughter was in town visiting and it would just be the two of them there, I told him I would but as usually my security schedule prevented me from getting that day off so I had to call Joe and cancel, later the next time I seen Joe at the theater I apologized for not being able to go, and Joe just smiled and said he knows all about duty first.
One night Joe showed up at the theater to watch a movie as he usually did, he came over to where I was posted out in the theater and said he had a gift for me, I told him he didn’t need to get me anything, I walked back outside to his car and he reached in and pulled out a old night stick that he used to carry with him while he was posted in the navy in San Diego California, I was humbled that he wanted to give me it, I said he must have someone in his family that would want it, he said no one else would appreciate it as much as I would, I thanked Joe for his special gift.
When we walked back inside I would tell Joe that he should move closer to his daughter, I told him that his accident should of been a eye opener or a omen that he should be closer to the only family he has, he told me that accident really shook him up.
The following week Joe told me the next time he came to the theater that he was putting up his house for sale and spoke to his daughter about finding a place out where she lived, I was soo very happy and congratulated him for his decision, Joe asked me for my number so we could still keep in contact, Joe would text me almost every week to tell me how he was doing, he would message me sending me jokes and writing me about his new place and all the things that he would do in a day, and really loved going places with his daughter Michelle, being able to see and be with her meant so much to him, I could tell that from his messages to me, Joe’s friendship to me was special because he was one genuine and kind soul that I was privileged to know, I’ll never forget him❤️🙏🏻
In response to "What did Joe love to do?"

My deepest condolences and prayers, I met Joe at the Regal Theater in Round Lake Beach IL, he would come to the show an hour early just to talk to me, and that’s how our friendship started.

Tony Garcia,

I’m going to miss you Joe🙏🏻
