Please accept my condolences at your mother's death. I appreciated having her as a student at Trinity Lutheran Seminary and always enjoyed talking with her at synod assembly and other events. She brought much joy into the world and was such a fine witness to the need for service dogs.

2022, Lord of Life Lutheran.
Pastor Joan will forever hold a special place in our hearts. During the midst of the pandemic, she opened her arms, faith and church to my husband and I so we could have our wedding in a place of worship. Her enthusiasm, grace and love made our wedding day extraordinarily special. We convinced her to join us for the outdoor reception where she took a nature walk, said our meal blessing and made us all feel special with her stories. We will think of her every time we see a rainbow.
When we called her 2 years later to see if she'd be willing to do a baptism for our newborn son, her response was "when can you get here? Of course, I'll do his baptism." She always said she did so little but her actions and love mean the world to us.
We will mourn the loss of such a special person but we are both grateful she is at peace and that we were able to share a little of her light. Our prayers and thoughts go out to her family and congregation.

I was deeply saddened to hear of Joan's passing. I went to school with her Bunker Jr. High and Muskegon High School, and her mom was our Girl Scout leader for a while. I remember Joan as a kind, thoughtful person. My sincere condolences to her family.
