Dear Angela,  Jade, Bryce, and Marikah . . . My name is John Rago and I was one of your dad's classmates and pals at Canevin.   We played basketball together and boy . . . could he play.   But most of all, he was such a decent fellow.  Kind,  focused, smart . . . and so much more.    I just learned today that Jim had passed away.   I wanted to write to you to say something you already know . . . your dad was a prince of a man!   I am glad he made his way out West.   He always was attracted to that landscape.  I remember him talking about it.   My son and I travel out there quite a bit and I know now what he meant and somehow knew way back then.    Not bad for a kid from "the Rocks."

May you find  peace in his memory.  And may you always know that he was admired and loved by his pals.  I count myself lucky to be among them.  Be well!    John

Jim always showed courage in the face of adversity, Faith in the powers that be and Trust in the outcome of events.
Jim was a solid bro whom could be counted on to be an honest team player. I know he lives as I carry Jim in my heart

Jim lived almost 300 miles from us when we were growing up so we only saw each other a couple of times a year.  Every Easter we were together for the Dougherty family dinner at the White Sparrow restaurant in New Jersey and the Davin's made the trip from Pittsburgh to Iona Lake in New Jersey every year for a family vacation.  I always think of him as kind and soft spoken. We did share time together a few times as adults and he was my "go to" guy for information on a few national parks like Bryce Canyon, Zion and the Grand Canyon. We didn't see each other often enough in life but that didn't stop the deep feeling of family.
