Jerry came into the lives of the Silver family when we were teens. My brother picked him up hitch hiking and brought him home. He changed our lives in more ways than I can say. We went from a very depressed group to having fun and laughing. We’ll love him forever. He truly blessed our lives. Milt, Char, Marion, Ken, and Dianne ❤️❤️❤️

Uncle Jerry, it's been a year since you passed  but it still feels like yesterday. The pain has eased a bit, but we feel your loss everyday and we talk about you often. We love you so much and always will. ❤️

Please continue to watch over us with love and protection.  You were our angel on Earth, now you're our angel in Heaven. Please give our love to our family, especially Grandma Genevieve, Grandpa Chet and Grandma and Grandpa Kilsby, we love and miss you all ❤️ ❤️ ❤️

Love, Teresa

I think, more than anything else, Jerry's greatest influence on me was his non-judgmental & compassionate view toward others. Jerry & I each managed substance addiction treatment and rehabilitation services in our respective counties and Jerry's wisdom & his genuine, heartfelt concern for the clients & family members who suffered from that disease guided his treatment philosophy. Jerry was a man with a big heart and he dealt with folks from a place of kindness & understanding. His caring approach in his work, as well as in his personal relationships, served as a valuable model for me in my own professional and personal life. That was a real gift he had, & I'm really grateful to have been friends with such a kind man.

Jerry: I guess it's been about 30 years that we've known each other; you've been a great friend to me all that time. Both of us being the heads of substance abuse departments in our respective counties, I always admired & respected your expertise in that field, & your compassionate view of treating folks that suffered with that disease; you were generous in sharing your knowledge with me & others in the field. I feel like I was better in my work, thanks to you.

But it wasn't just business that brought us together; memories of us sharing some leisure time playing golf or poker also makes me smile. And, in the past dozen or so years since I retired & moved here to North Carolina, you were the only one that kept in touch regularly, & I always appreciated that about you, too. I also admired your courage, & even your humor, while fighting your cancer treatment over these last several years. You were one tough hombre through that whole thing, & I admired that about you, too.

I sure was saddened to learn of your passing, but at the same time privileged to have been your friend. You won't be forgotten, old buddy.

I send my condolences to your family for their loss of such a good man.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the family. Jerry was a great dad, wonderful father in- law to my daughter, such a special grandpa, a rock to Laura, and a great friend and family to us. We will forever keep so many memories of him in our heart. Jerry had a great sense of humor, he was so fun and always loved getting together for special family gatherings. He especially enjoyed Easter, he would bring his grandson and join right in for the family fun! Everyone will miss him. One of my favorite memories is when Jerry and I danced at Corey and Jessica’s wedding. He was quite the dancer, he swung me around like a rag doll, we had so much fun! I also remember when he went to Burney Falls with Corey and our grandsons. He was doing chemo then and wasn’t doing very well but he enjoyed that trip so much, even taking a hike with the boys. As I too battled Pancreatic cancer, we would talk about how we were feeling and chemo and everything we were going through. He went through so much, he was such a strong man who would do chemo over and over again. I really admired this in Jerry, he had such a strong will to live, a desire for life, he was a courageous man. Jerry did so much for his community, he worked for the Drug and Alcohol in Amador County and helped so many. We will never forget Jerry and he will be greatly missed. We love and miss you Jerry, until we see you again.

I've known Jerry since I was about 18, about 57 years. We've been very close friends for a long time. So many memories and great times we spent together. The last time we talked just a few weeks ago he said he wasn't sure he'd ever see me again, and I was hoping that wouldn't be true. It's just hard to believe he's gone. Jerry, I'm sure going to miss you, buddy.
I first met Jerry when I was a child. He and my parents had met and became friends. Then after a couple of decades, Jerry came into my life again through Staci. This time he was more of a father. And during those few years, Jerry saw me at my best and my worst. He never judged me, instead he tried to help me. And ultimately he did when he told me it was time to leave. I know it was hard for him to do that, because he always had a big heart, but I moved on. Now I am doing the best I ever have in my life, and it all started with his hard decision. Thank you Jerry. You will be missed. Love you Laura, Jennifer, Corey and Staci. I'm sorry for the void in your life of not having him there with you.

To the family and friends to Jerry. I first met Jerry when I moved to Amador County and went on a committee. Later he was even on a Board of Changing Echo where he helped us solve problems and increased our board resolve. He was a great friend and I will miss him greatly.
Today I'd like to thank the powers that be for sending me my Uncle Jerry. He was the first man I ever trusted, gave my heart to and always admired.

He was the one who instilled in me my love of adventure, crazy things, love of art in all forms and my need for speed 😆 From wild dune buggy rides, camping, water skiing, shooting the rapids to the pure awe of touching a redwood that had lived for 100s of years. He also let me fall flat on my face when that was the only way I'd learn.

His entire adult life he spent helping at risk and under privileged kids. As he got older he continued helping others in need. There's not a time I can remember him not helping others. He was a husband, father, grand father, uncle and the most perfectly imperfect man I've ever known.

I've mourned the loss of this beautiful human being and now I celebrate the wondrous life he lived and the love and acceptance I always felt with/from him.

I hope on this next journey you're giving them hell and living it up. I love you UJ.

Aunt Laura, Jennifer, Staci and Corey, you are all in my thoughts and prayers. It's never easy saying goodbye to someone you love so dearly. But remember, it's not really goodbye, it's I'll see you later ❤

My Uncle Jerry is the best man I've ever known. He's been there for me from the start, 55 years ago. I don't remember a time when he wasn't present in my life. I have fond memories of riding around in his dune buggy, sometimes petrified but mostly enthralled with my Uncle Jer's love of adventure! He was such a talented artist: his drawings, paintings and photographs are outstanding, what a privilege to have seen his work. I have a favorite photograph that he took of me as a child, about 5 years old, which I will cherish forever.

I can't say enough about him! He was loving and don't recall him ever raising his voice in front of me. He was like a father to me and knowing I won't be able to talk to him again, breaks my heart--I love him so much!!

To Aunt Laura, Jenifer, Stacy and Corey, I'm so sorry for his passing and can only imagine how much you're hurting right now. I love you all so much and please know I'll ALWAYS be here for you. My heart is full just knowing all of the loved ones who were there to greet him when he entered God's kingdom. Genevieve was one happy Mom that day and I know he felt truly in Heaven wrapped in her arms.
