Jerry's obituary
Jerry E. Alexander, age 75 passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, November 5, 2022, surrounded by loved ones. Jerry was born September 14, 1947, in Detroit Michigan to Joseph Alexander Sr. and Jannie Berlerson.
Jerry joined the US Navy and served in Viet Nam as a Seabee.
He was a Certified Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse Counselor III. He was the President and owner of AODA Staff Development and Training. He was a Certified Teacher for the Madison Area Technical College, He has taught alcohol and drug abuse classes for University of Extension-Madison, Alumni of Western Michigan University, University of Stout State of Wisconsin and Minnesota. He created and developed The Beloit Inner City Council on Substance Abuse, Inc., Racine Council on Substance Abuse, Inc. Madison Inner City Council on Substance Abuse, Inc., Kenosha Inner City Council on Substance Abuse, Inc., Berlerson & Alexander Free Service Clinic, and many other programs for community treatment programs. He has trained more than 25% of the African American Alcohol & Drug Abuse Counselors in Wisconsin and many of them that are consultants. He was a Certified National Training Systems Trainer. Jerry obtained a Governors pardon then ran for city council in Beloit, appointed to the Governors Citizens Advisory Council and became an Adult Probation & Parole Agent 2. He was a Social Worker at Ethan Allen School for Boys. He was a vocational Rehabilitation Specialist III; he travelled throughout the state providing technical assistance and training for internal staff and communities statewide on issues related to people with disabilities. Jerry was a servant helping others attain their goals.
Jerry loved to travel, vacation and spend time with family and friends. He loved his music.
Jerry is survived by his wife; Mary Crockett (Alexander), his children; Heather Ausprung (John Erdmann), Rada Bailey (Jason Bailey), grandchildren; Amber Deneen (Oakley), Erich Olsen, Jack Ausprung, Kinsley Bailey, Dax Bailey, Brother; Keith Belcher (Delphine), sister; Karen Belcher-Simmons (Hosea). Jerry is proceeded in death by his wife: Mary E. Alexander, parents; Joseph Alexander Sr. and Jannie Berlerson, brother; Joseph Alexander Jr., Sister: Joanne Person
