Jan's obituary
Janice “Jan” Martha Whedon, of Ellicott, CO, was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, cousin, and friend. She left this world after a brief battle with cancer on December 10, 2021 at the age of 72.
She was born to Edward and Martha McCagh on June 23, 1949 in La Vale, MD. After graduating from Bishop Walsh High School, Jan studied psychology at Frostberg State University. After graduation, Jan moved to Colorado Springs, CO where she met Michael “Mike” Whedon. The two wed and had two children: Bethany and Meghan. Jan worked alongside Mike to build the family farm in Ellicott as well as a landscaping business in Colorado Springs.
Jan loved spending time with family and dedicated her life to being a fantastic caregiver. Jan was always concerned about the needs of others. Once her children were grown, Jan dedicated her time to caring for her elderly aunt and best friend, Anna Mae Crossey. Jan’s world revolved around her family, especially her two grandchildren, Hunter and Anna. We will miss her greatly.
Jan was predeceased by her parents Edward and Martha McCagh. She is survived by her husband, Michael Whedon, children, Bethany (Luke) Dovenspike, Meghan (Mark) Stidd, her grandchildren, Hunter Dovenspike, Anna Stidd, and her siblings, Edward McCagh, David McCagh, and Lucinda Lopez-Hernandez.
There will be a memorial at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 2030 West Colorado Avenue in Colorado Springs on Friday, January 14, 2022 at 10:00am. All are welcome.
