To Jan, Janet, Nathanial and Joseph: I was so very sorry to hear the news of Uncle Jim's passing. I am so thankful we have been able to connect electronically with you over the last year, and hope that we will be able to continue to stay connected. I know that Uncle Jim loved you all very much, with all of his heart, and will still be with you in spirit. He will be missed tremendously.
With kind regards, Mina

For Jim and Family:

Jack shared with me the absolutely perfect card he found that spoke to his heart of hearts about Jim: What a beautiful message, Jack! Thanks for sharing that. It really conveys the true image of Jim, as the protective big brother he was. He always took care of us little ones in that way. No one would dare to threaten us because they knew that Jim was our big brother. And although he was truly the gentle giant at heart, his image was formidable. That image was perpetuated by his success at football. I’m not sure, but I think he played center, and I remember hearing that he led the offensive line for protection of the quarterback and they were unstoppable. He also led the defensive line to prevent scoring by the other team. I don’t think he ever got a rest because they could not afford to ever take him out of the game. This was in spite of his heart murmur likely caused by strep infection damage to heart valves, very likely he never mentioned to anyone. I guess his great courage, energy, and determination carried him to summon extra effort in every situation to get the job done. Yes, the oak tree is a great characterization of Jim! Gigantic, massive, graceful, gentle, strong in resistance to great winds, with the balance of deep roots to make him immovable. I have also known Jim to be compassionate and caring with his friends and family. A soon as he turned 16, he had his own car and was always ready to lend his services as chauffeur to those in need of a ride. When our mother had been diagnosed with terminal illness, Jim was there to drive her wherever she needed to go, so she no longer had to depend on public transportation. And when he learned that she had never seen the ocean, Jim was there to drive her to Daytona along with her little ones, for a beach trip to crown her bucket list. Jim had a keen sense of humor that made him a delight with everyone. He was always smiling, adventuresome, great company and fun; and loved to tease a squeal out of any unsuspecting soul. Jim continues to be truly an all-around great brother, son, father, grandfather, and friend; present to us now from a distance, as Bette Middler put into words the visual image Jim once shared with us—he is out there in good company—watching us. https://music.youtube.com/wat…
This is the image Jim shared: https://earth.google.com/web/…

Brothers and sisters,
I, a prisoner for the Lord,
urge you to live in a manner worthy of the calling
you have received,
with all humility and gentleness, with patience,
bearing with one another through love,
striving to preserve the unity of the Spirit
through the bond of peace:
one body and one Spirit,
as you were also called to the one hope of your calling;
one Lord, one faith, one baptism;
one God and Father of all,
who is over all and through all and in all.
But grace was given to each of us
according to the measure of Christ’s gift.
And he gave some as apostles, others as prophets,
others as evangelists, others as pastors and teachers,
to equip the holy ones for the work of ministry,
for building up the body of Christ,
until we all attain to the unity of faith
and knowledge of the Son of God, to mature to manhood,
to the extent of the full stature of Christ.
--Ephesians 4:1-7, 11-13

With all our Love, The Guzman Family.
