JAMES “JIM” WALTER STITLEY, JR.
James “Jim” Walter Stitley, Jr. passed away peacefully with his wife by his side on December 11, 2023, at the age of 79 after a long battle with Lewy Body Dementia. He was born on May 23, 1944, in York, Pennsylvania. Jim was a man of kindness and possessed a delightful sense of humor that remained with him until the end.
Jim dedicated his professional life to the field of Research Biochemistry, holding esteemed positions at Ward Labs, Campbells, Pepperidge Farm, ABI, Dominos International, Schiff Nutrition, and Ovos Natural Health. Among his many accomplishments, his favorite project was the creation of rat bars for NASA, a testament to his ingenuity and passion for scientific exploration.
Jim found solace and spiritual fulfillment at Montezuma Chapel in Rimrock, AZ, where he faithfully worshiped.
In his leisure time, Jim indulged in his love for astronomy, immersing himself in the wonders of the cosmos. He was also an avid reader, constantly expanding his knowledge and understanding of the world. Additionally, Jim possessed a remarkable talent for playing the organ, a skill he taught himself and cherished deeply.
There will be Celebration of Life service 10:00 am on Saturday, January 13th at Montezuma Chapel in Rimrock AZ, where family and friends will gather to honor Jim's memory and share stories of his remarkable life with a luncheon afterwards in Sheets Hall at the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that contributions be made to the Arizona Senior Cares Foundation (AZSeniorCaresFoundation.org) an organization dedicated to caring for vulnerable seniors of which he was proud of his wife as a member of the Founding Board.
Jim is survived by his beloved wife, Tresa Rose (Magiera) Stitley; sister, Shirley Stitley of York PA, his daughter Becky (Al) Monahan of Haupage NY, his son Michael (April) Stitley of Burdett NY; his stepson Michael Lee Adkins of Cornville AZ, and his stepdaughter Jenifer Gibson of Brighton MI.
Jim was blessed to have 17 grandchildren: Crystal, Joe, Chris, Nick, Tyler, Joey, Ashlyn, Meghan, Nathanael, Alexandra, Christian, Matthew, Joseph, Noah, Andrew, Amelia, and Delilah.
Along with 17 grandchildren, Jim was blessed with ten great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Walter Stitley, Sr., and Geraldine Horn Stitley.
May Jim’s memory be forever cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
