I will miss you deeply, my brother and my friend, dear, dear Jim. Your strong faith and your good humor are an example I strive for as I inevitably follow you on  that road we all take. I cherish your wife, Laetitia, as my own dear sister and friend. I listen for your voice in my ears encouraging me to laugh and reach out to others. Go with God as you always have . . . But visit us often.

Love, your sister,

Kathie

Laetitia, we are greatly saddened to learn of Jim's passing.   I'll always remember his engaging personality and great kindness.   We will keep you in our prayers.

We are so blessed to have known Jim and had wonderful summer memories at the Marina, by the pool  and enjoying casual and simple get-together dinners with unforgettable laughs around the picnic area with Jim and Laetitia.

Jim! We miss you on this earthy world but we know you are free of pain and you are in God’s loving hands.

Laetitia, nous t’envoyons courage et force en ce moment très difficile.

We look forward to attend the funeral mass via Zoom.

Love, Daniel & Lucia

Jim was one of God's special children.  He was blessed with a love of life and a positive attitude which made up his wonderful personality.  For me he was a best friend that I had the pleasure of spending countless hours with, sailing his boat.  Jim is no longer in pain and he will be greatly missed by all of us.
From Morgan Privett, 22 years old.
Yesterday my family got news that we had lost our sailor friend. Jim passed away after fighting the battle of cancer. Jim was a bright light and anyone who had the pleasure of meeting him would know this. He was a very special person; a ray of sunshine. He would sail from Annapolis to South Florida for the winter the past 6 years or so. On his journey he would stop in Charleston and stay at Toler’s Cove marina before heading to Myrtle Beach. I had the pleasure of meeting Jim in 2016. My dad saw him sail in and would let him use his truck for supplies and we would cook dinner for him while he was in Charleston. Since we met Jim he has always been battling some kind of sickness, but he was a fighter. Since that year, Jim would pass through the next couple years and every time we heard he was coming everyone wanted to be there to see him while he was in town. Jim was the kind of person that you didn’t have to see him all the time to have a unique relationship with him. He was thrilled to see you and meet any other friends and family my brother and I brought around. You did not miss the chance to hangout with Jim for family dinner. Jim always wanted to know what’s been going on and he was so proud and excited for you. My family loved Jim with all our hearts. My mom met him once and she never forgot him because you don’t! You do not forget a person like Jim, whether you’ve met him one time or multiple times you cannot forget what an amazing person he was. He was an inspiration for all of us! I was fortunate enough to pick Jim up from the airport this May and drive him up to my dads place in McClelanville, SC. My dad had convinced him to do the sailing trip one more time if he was up to it. He had to take a quick trip back to FL for chemo half way through. He was miserable this day, but that didn’t stop him from being so excited to be hanging out with me and asking about my life. He was so proud of the women I had become. He got to meet my dog Sage for the first time. If you know Sage she is a stingy kisser. He hadn’t been in the car 5 minutes when Sage reach from the back and gave him a kiss. She knew he needed it! We talked about living everyday as his last and to plan ahead. Jim got to go to France with his wife Laetitia this summer. He got to bathe in the healing waters of Lourdes. He also planned to have his 70th birthday party next month in PA. He wanted my whole family to come including my boyfriend. I had a feeling he would make it because the doctors told him he had 6 weeks or something bizarre to live several months before May. He was a fighter and I prayed for him every night that he would beat this! I am very saddened by the loss of this wonderful man. Words cannot describe the kind of person we all lost on Sunday night. Sail off into heaven Jim we love you and will never forget you! You can now be my guardian angel and watch out for me and continue to be proud of me!

We are beyond sad over the loss of Jim. We send family our loving thoughts and prayers for this beloved friend. Noreen and John Rice

Laetitia:

Jim was a Captain of the best kind, and you his forever First Mate.  His faith and love of you were seamlessly matched together and there was nothing that would ever break those bonds.  He lived a robust life in work and pleasure and did not know an enemy.  His passion for sailing, service to others and sharing his wisdom were his hallmarks.

When he became ill he persevered through surgeries and great discomfort but never complained of his misfortune in health.  Resilience and fortitude became his  "MO".    He inspired others with his kind and gentle spirit and yet loved a spirited conversation over politics!

Laetitia, he gave you 20+ years of loving memories together to treasure forever.  Jim loved sailing but his love for you was profound!  Our family is forever grateful to call Jim our dear friend!!!  Redemption will miss her Captain and voyages - and so will we!!!

Remembered and Loved Always,

The Thalers

To Laetitia: so sorry for the loss of your beloved and best friend Jim. I feel your pain and there are no words that will bring you comfort. Know you are loved and Jim will be missed by many.

Note to Jim’s Friends at Lake Wallenpaupack | Bud Hackett

Our friend, Jim Nulton, passed today in his sleep and in the loving arms of his wife Laetitia.

Some of you know Jim as a frequent sailor and friend to many who formed the Paupack Sailing Club in the ‘90s. He loved sailing Lake Wallenpaupack back in the days when we sailed together out of Wilsonville. He, in his Catalina 22 and I, in my Chrysler 22.

Sailing was Jim’s passion and he changed course to sail on the Chesapeake with a progression of boats in Annapolis.

One of the happiest sailors I ever knew, despite his long illness, Jim bought his Beneteau Oceanis 38 a few years ago and has for the past five years sailed/motored to Florida for the winter. Oh, his tales of the 30+ day ICW, it’s many bridges and of course, dismal swamp.

John’s Hopkins become almost a second home in the past few years with multiple surgeries and what seems like hundreds of procedures. Being docked in Annapolis was a convenient and helpful recovery place.

Jim’s wife Laetitia has been a wonderfully supportive first mate throughout Jim’s challenging voyage and as Jim always said, “Jesus Christ is my navigator”.  Cancer is a long and difficult headwind. Just this summer, Jim and Latitia traveled to her home in rural France to visit family and Jim had the chance to visit Lourdes to bath in its healing waters.

So many of Jim’s friends from Lake Wallenpaupack, Annapolis and South Florida will miss him and his friendly “looking good” to other passing sailboats.
