James J. Nulton, 69, of Etters passed away peacefully in his sleep on Sunday, August 20, 2023.
Born in Wilkes-Barre, PA, he was the son of Mary Ellen Sullivan Nulton and the late Sherry Edgar Nulton.
A graduate of Central Catholic High School, Kingston, PA, and Penn State University, he spent most of his professional life at PP&L, joining the company in 1979. Working as International Director of Economic Development from 1996-2002, he assisted foreign companies in finding sites in Pennsylvania for their operations, ultimately attracting foreign investment to Pennsylvania to create jobs and further the economic prosperity of the 29 counties within PPL’s service area. From 2002 to his retirement in 2014, as Regional Affairs Director for the Harrisburg region, he represented PP&L in addressing Pennsylvania community and economic development issues in collaboration with for-profit, nonprofit and local, county and governmental entities. He was a key community contact for civic leaders and served on the boards of numerous local economic development and community organizations including United Way of the Capital Region, Capital Region Economic Development Council, The National Civil War Museum, Murata Business Center and the Boys & Girls Club of Central Pennsylvania.
Jim was genuinely interested in people and was loved in turn by many friends and admirers. The times he enjoyed best involved spending time with friends and family. He was an avid sailor, a member of the American Sailing Association, and a certified sailing instructor. He sailed the intercoastal waterways between Annapolis, Maryland, and Delray Beach, Florida, making the 1200 mile trip eight times. He also sailed along the southern coast of France and in the Caribbean. In addition, he was a runner who participated in many races and charity runs. He loved sailing and going to the beach with his wife, Laetitia.
Surviving are his wife, Laetitia March; his mother, Mary Ellen Nulton, Dallas, PA; his sister, Kathie Kemmerer, Shavertown, PA; his brothers: Daniel, Wyoming, PA; Christopher, Garrell, TX; Patrick, Harveys Lake, PA; Jerry, Acton, ME; and Peter, Pawtucket, RI; along with numerous nieces and nephews. Also surviving are two daughters from a previous marriage and several grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, August 28, at 10 a.m. at Saint Patrick’s Cathedral, 212 State Street, Harrisburg. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 1313 S York St, Mechanicsburg.
